Twisted One said:Okay, someone posted this on another forum, not sure why they did not post it here, but I have to. Going by the responses in this link, it sounds like there are a lot more archies out there against us then I would have believed. And some of the things they posted show their train of thought, and it blows my mind to finally see their actual stance on this hobby.

They were Not Looters,
But all invoveld in the Facebook thing Etc, will
Cause a Law Saying they are.
Twisted One said:I agree, I think they are exaggerating everything. But it doesn't matter what we think, when we are not voicing it. Sadly I can already envision a lot of people attacking these archies on their own site and shining a worse light on our hobby.
If anyone feels a need to comment on their facebook attacks on the show, please be respectful, and clean.
Twisted One said:The post on the anti-american diggers facebook page I think are a bit strong.
But surprisingly there are a few comments on the "Anti-diggers" facebook page that actually questions Archies and Metal detectorist working together in benefit. Not sure if I agree with that unless they are willing to let me keep things that we find without a historical link to them, like my more than 50 year old coins.
But it does have a bit of a promising allure to it.

And I think that is the wall between archies, and hobbyist. There are some things that hold a historical value, and can not be replaced, or replenished. But what are those things? According to the antiquity laws anything older the 50 years? That is not acceptable.
If I were working close with archies, and they were willing to accept that I get part of things like coinage, it might be another matter. I mean how many of the same exact coins do their museums need?
Twisted One said:They do want everything, but then, so do a lot of us.
I think if a middle ground was reached, where everything was recorded, documented, analysed, and then the detectorist got a potion of the items that did not have major historical relevance, or as the UK does, was paid a reward for finding an item of historic relevance it would be a whole new story between Archies and hobbyist.

I dont want everything, nor will I ever get it.They have an elitist attitude that they are the only ones that "care",and thats totally false in itself.I have had them come to me and ask for info,on sites, relic care,etc....funny when its been the same ones totally shun my offer of my services,on site.....for a nominal fee..when they themselves are pulling down big$$$$$ doing there "surveys",which always turn into million $ digs.....that they never glean any info on,or if they do,never donate to local museums or to the community
