It doesn't seem to have any identification or serial numbers. I was told its a ladies rifle. Its a cool lightweight cap and ball type muzzleloader. I believe it to be authentic. It might be .22 caliber or .25. Check out the hammer and nipple on the bottom. The only marking I see is hand stamped "A.STORY VT."

Any idea what this is? Help needed from the antique gun people. Thanks

pictures loading very slow and having problems they are so big

.30 caliber or smaller is apparently very rare for a rifle. Like releventchair said,
"Getting below 30 cal. is getting small. Pistol maybe , blackpowder rifle? Hmm"
I see no reason for anyone to manufacture a replica in .30 caliber.

I'm having a hard time finding them on google. But I came across this interesting discussion on small caliber rifles. It mentions a small caliber salesman sample. Hmmm. It also mentions Jeremiah Johnson.
I was just watching Jeremiah Johnson...EXCELLENT MOVIE....and at the beginning the narrator says he bought his first Hawken, a .30 caliber

Asa Story for comparison to .32 CVA.webp

You can see its smaller than the .32 caliber CVA with the naked eye.

Never Say Never......But I really doubt it...
That Quote has been at issue since the Movie came out...
I'm Guessing that it was a Typo in the Original Script...
Likely Was 'sposed to be .50, But Became .30...

A .30 Caliber Muzzleloader is like a .22 !

Yes, Squirrel Guns made in .36, even .32...

But...A .30 ? .30 is essentially 'SHOT'...
