Need help choosing a Whites

I will be buying in about 3-4 weeks. Right for the land detector I am looking at the Xterra 705 or the MXT Pro. Leaning towards the Xterra a bit though. I will have to see which one, used or new, I can get the best deal on the funds are ready. I think both machines would work really well. My first purchase will be a Tesoro Tiger Shark for the water, then the land detector.

Ooops, and I keep looking at that new Coinmaster GT. Seems like a lot of bang for the buck, but have not seen reviews or depth test on this unit.

lol...rainyday, you sound just like me a couple months ago. I spent many hours researching detectors. Then just when I thought I knew what I wanted, I would change my mind. In the end I went with the MXT-Pro, and a AT-Pro for water ( don't seem to have much salt water here in Okla). They both run on the same frequency. All tho that Tesoro has a life time warranty....but do I really want a PI machine....would it be hard to master both types? Oh no...my head is starting to spin again. Good luck my friend and happy hunting. Oh, if you get the MXT-Pro, you may want to get a book called "The MXT Edge"....I did and it was money well spent.

I think you'll do great with an M6 White's Metal Detectors - Matrix M6 for what you want to hunt, and it is a big step up on the learning and capability curve. It is also reasonably priced, unlike the overpriced TDI, which is a PI machine with not enough power, sort of a Minelab "Light." Good Luck, and Big Gold!
Terry,

I am just curious how many hours experience you have on the TDI? What were you able to find with it? Thanks!

I can tell you my experience with the MXT PRO. It's great. I did not want the 12" coil so I sold it and got the 10x12 SEF coil which is awesome. Great separation in trashy areas. My buddy and I were hunting a small park. He was using same machine but with a 6x10 DD coil. We hunted near a shelter that was loaded with pull tabs and other trash. He could not hunt there because of the trash. I had no problems with the SEF coil and I found a couple wheat pennies and a nice 1922 token. The one thing that is nice about the MXT is that you can use many different coils on it. Even though it comes with the 12" coil (which is great if you get in an area that is not trashy) you can sell them pretty easy on eBay and then get the coil that you want. The stock 950 coil works great as well. I agree that the Minelab is an awesome machine for coins but I really like White's products. I also have the TDI which I use for relic hunting which is about all I hunt for anymore. I do coin hunt occasionally though. Either the M6 or MXT PRO will work fine for coin hunting. Don't overlook the SEF coil as it will give you some extra depth. I hunted a small park one time that I gridded every inch in a 20x50 foot area. I went back with the new coil and found several mercury dimes and wheat pennies that I could not reach with the other coils. Good luck on which ever machine you get. In the long run the more experience you get with a machine the better you get. No matter what machine you are using.

I have a White's Prizm 6T and I love it . I always come home with at least a fistful of change . A great MD ! It's very easy to use and understand . It has been discontinued by White's so you might be able to get one at a very good price .
