Oh yea! Back at it again on Saturday!
Met up with the Golden Mojo and where at the spot at 9am. What a beautiful day!!!
We found a nice bedrock outcrop that had it all. Some nice flat shelf like sections on the bank for a nice comfy work area, a sand bar and a bunch of troughs and cracks.
The water was high and ripping but we still found good gold. The was a nice little spot where I set up the Bazooka right next to a sand/cobble bar. This easy to dig material was showing 3 smalls per shovel full so I figured since It was 2ft from the sluice I figured what the heck...
Worked great for 2 hrs and then the water dropped a bit and I was getting some surge wave action. Messed with the flow and slowed me down a bit but I made it work.
I was using Joe's sniper and moving a tun of material. I would take a shovel full and toss it onto the slick plate (missed a few times lol) then immediately take another scoop and step over to the box. I was able to set the shovel down on the bedrock and help the first shovel clear and then dumped and cleared the second shovel and repeat.
With so much material going through I cleaned out 3 times in about 2 and half hours. Then I decided I would need to dig out the sluice spot to accommodate the dropping water level and I was really wanting the sand which I left in the truck so I decided to go back and grab the Sammy and by prospector. I was tired of cleaning out so much and since I was digging it out I figured what the heck. As I got to the bridge and truck there were some knuckleheads going down the raging river on boogie boards....one was screaming and hollering for someone right next to a gnarly set of Rapids and I was distracted.....forgot the Sammy at the truck. Doh!!!
Ran the prospector for another 3 hrs cleaning out twice. River kept dropping and it started to be a struggle to get the flow.. we called it at about 3.
Found something hung up on the grizzlies. I instantly felt it was a cocking lever or trigger to a gun. Would be very cool if I could confirm this but even better if I can find out what model of gun.
Woke up very sore on Sunday with a few few blisters on my feet from my new creek sneaks and a bruised and scratched wrist where I got nailed by large Boulder that gave way while trying to move it smaller brother....that was a close call. but had a great time again.
Oh and for some reason this gold had a lot of iron in it.. I did all the normal cleaning techniques. Magnet, bouncing and blowing but kept showing black. Under the scope I see why..that black sand ain't black sand....it's gold. Joe was kind enough to donate his black sands to me river side. Can't wait to mill this stuff! Thanks Joe!
This gold actually looks like what my rod mil produced.... I'm thinking the sand from this section of river are going to be even better then the sands I collected last year.
