Without the fuse or other external detonation means, it's useless...as a disclaimer, don't go and play arty round baseball or toss it in a fire..just for sh--- and giggles...lol

you need to call the nearest military bace ask for ordnance disposal. it that is live and High explosive it could level your house and kill a lot of people. I would not touch it again. if it is live and you move it wrong it could go off. some explosives get real unstable with age. All the dummies I have ever seen were blue. I see that is old and rusty but also green. NOT A GOOD SIGN. Hope you live through it.

You can test to see if it's live or not by hitting it with a sledge hammer a few times. :tongue3:

Looks like a 105 mm round to me and it could still be live DO NOT HIT THE TIP THATS THE BLAST CAP AND I WOULD call someone ether the police or bomb squad cause if that's live and goes off it will level about a football around it

Looks to be possibly a 105mm, or a 155mm (depending on your shoe size) check the brass rotator bands for markings, there may be some info there. Accurate measurements in mm of the width are needed to be sure of an id, and a length will help also. As was already stated, it's not fused, and therefore not dangerous to handle. While there may be explosive inside, all you need to do is wet it down and flush it out, looks like it had been there a while though so there's probably nothing but mud inside. Don't call the law if you want to keep it or ever see it again, they'll "destroy" it, which really means there's a good chance it'll find it's way to someone elses collection seeing as it isn't a live round.

They're are a lot of ordinance collectors out there and if you decide to sell it you'll have no problem finding someone interested. Where did you come across it?

They seem to be everywhere. Buddy found one just a few months ago beside an old porch.

No fuse....no problem.

They used to sell them at surplus stores around my area.

Interesting..the only place I know to find a ton of ordinance from the civil war on is in cold spring, NY (Across from West Point)...lots of unexploded ordinance there...lol
