Re: My trommel build ( Building The Sluice Box)*******

Yep, coming right alonh there, Jog. Looks real good!!!! Are you going to have some sort of classification at the head of that sluice box? Over/Under or maybe just a Punch Plate?

Put some skis on those wheels and get her out there to the tailing piles. :laughing7: We got snow and alot of it, also.

Re: My trommel build ( Building The Sluice Box)*******

I have a piece of 3/16" hole punch plate on the way.

Re: My trommel build ( Building The Sluice Box)*******

Adjuster for leveling the sluice side to side.

Looks great jog. I wish I had half the craftsmanship as you and a place where I could use equipment like that.

I don't have a lot of equipment, most people wouldn't believe me if I told them what I used to build this. Somethings you have to do the old fashion way and a little hard work.
Thanks for looking and the comments.

Re: My trommel build ( Building The Sluice Box)*******

I have finished my trommel at least until I try it and see what I might have to tweak a little. I ended up building my own sprayers so I will have to see how that goes. I will be putting water to it this week to check and see if it all works like it is supposed to. If that all passes I will haul it up the rd to the rock quarry and test it there, they have tailing's from the river that are similar to what I will be working on my claim.
Here are about all the tools that I really used, other than a drill press that isn't in the pic. The pieces I had bent for me were the trommel screen, the hopper under the screen and the sluice. Other than that I built and assembled pretty much everything in my little garage. Oh also a bench vice. Thanks to everyone who has looked and responded, I hope this helps someone else when they build one.

Hey GreyCloud, My back is is a little sore so if you want to come and show me how a shovel works I won't mind. :laughing9:
Hoser, a winch might be the next project but I don't have any use for one on the claim that the trommel is going to. Might need it on my other one though.

Might just have some available for ya all as I am reading the newly release proposed suction dredge regulations. :icon_scratch: Motorized Winch.... On-Site inspection.

Does it include a Huey Green Winch hidden up in the brush for the graveyard shift of boulder relocation. :laughing7:
Can you put a 4" restriction ring on an 8" dredge nozzle, nope 2" limit on hose, so how about a 6" with the ring way out in front??? Still working on it and reading. :read2:

Jog, very nice looking portable mini trommel. WELL DONE

Re: My trommel build "COMPLETED" "COMPLETED" "COMPLETED"

Jog, I would like to help you out, but I have come down with a bad case of lazyitis, which is a condition of sorryitis. The only reason I was gonna borrow the trommel was because I thought it was a package deal, with you being on the dragline end.
However, I will take one for the team and volunteer to pick the nuggets out of the sluice box. ;D

From one layout man to another, nice build...

Re: My trommel build "COMPLETED" "COMPLETED" "COMPLETED"

Jog, I have to say that looks like something my dad built! That is the highest compliment I can give it because my dad is the greatest mechanical engineer & fabricator I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. :icon_thumleft:
Truly a very well thought out, fabticated, & assembled unit. Love the sluice leveler! You done good! Can you by chance give us some overall dimensions for reference?

Like you I have never run a trommel. Never even been around a small one. BUT, I have a great facination with them I want to build one some day. I have all of the tools you used (my welder may be a little smaller) so I have no excuse.

Stan in Colorado.
Beautiful & well designed unit in it's own right!
Could you by chance do a thread on it? Details on WW motor drive, dimensions, etc. Any thing you can think of or have pics of would be greatly appreciated.

I can do the measurements for you but I will weight until I make a couple changes, I did my water flow test to day and found two modifications I need to do. When I get those done I will also post the fixes that I had to do so others don't have to go that route. Maybe I will take before and after pics that way I can get them put on here sooner. Try to get them on later today.
Thanks for the great compliment....
