Family has and always will come first ~ACE~. Hopefully, sometime in the future - things will change and you will MD again - take care my friend.

if you got a detector you no longer want / need --I know of a kid (12 year old boy )that would love to have one

Well his profile says he used a Minelab E-Trac, but he may never come back to read this ....

Sorry to hear that your hobby has become a problem in your family life! Hopefully things will change and get better in the future so that you can pick up where you left off! Good luck and take care!

Keep your detector. Perhaps when things clear up you can detect occasionally. That's all I do and have fun when doing it.

Just look on the bright side... You could have had "drugs" as a hobby!

Oh.. well.. you can't OD on metal detecting... or cannabis.

Watch your blood pressure....

there far worse "addictions" out there by far

I respect the decision of Ace. I've known others that put the hobby above wife and family and lost what
they needed most.

Hay , think about it, You are part of the family. Do you count? There should be some time for your considerations, Of course the family will consume most of your time until the family grows up. As kids grow, perhaps you could induct them into the hobby. Hay, I raised 5 kids and still enjoyed the hobby! Frank...

I've found that an addictive personality type will just move from one addiction to another. So what's it going to be next ACE?

So friggen true. We'll see how much she minds your metal detecting when it turns to gambling or whatever else. My husband gave me a hard time about it to. So I went back to my previous addiction of animal rescue. After gaining 8 more fosters.... He's begging me to dig up junk again.

Ace... your wife must have had something to do with this... you should explain too us how this is ruining your home life so others that may be having the same issue can come too you for help.. Good luck in life and I sure hope you get back out swinging and digging again in the near near future!

I wonder if Mrs. Ace has any of his finds?
Rich

I think I can understand from where you are coming from. At times, you can totally get engrossed in reading and replying to posts that the next thing you know an hour or more has passed, and other more important chores around the house need to be done. Just an example from my own observation.

Sorry to hear it Ace, I step back for a few days too. There is just so many aspects of this hobby, you will find it hard to stay away. Good luck and enjoy the beginning of summer.
