It's a pretty cool item or sure but considering the ensuing conversation about what it was/who made it/where it came from...I could not help myself...

Everything is relevant to supply and demand!
For myself, to make one with my wages, I would have to charge $20,000.00
The one example shown, would land in at roughly $ 100.00 CAN
Here is the link and if you are fast with your bidding you may save the $ 50.00 bucks I guestamented her's was worth!

Ha Ha. The lady thinks what she has found is worth dollars and she deserves an honest answer. The seller on eBay is asking 24.99 and there are no bids. I thought so.

Heres a closer match. Vintage Mother of Pearl Vase Capiz Shell Piece Beautiful Art Seashell Decor | eBay These things were probably mass produced by cheap labor. Import item. No antique value. Curiosity piece maybe. The only way to guesstimate value is to find one that actually sold. You can watch both of these eBay items to find out. I cant find one that actually sold yet so my guess would be $15-$25 which is probably about what you paid for it. Supply and Demand? I dont think there is a big demand for these vase items. Some of the lamp shades are selling better.

That is the OP's lamp. She has it listed on eBay.

Sorry but I agree with the hubby also. Modest decorative value only. Plus it's a pain in the butt to pack/ship it. Keep it, enjoy it, make the hubby stare at it everyday.

Oh its the same one. sorry. Just keep in mind Greeneyedbandit that what I say will not influence prices on eBay. The market will determine that and good luck on your sales.

You never know what has value. I have sold items for over $100 that I thought were junk. Just put it up for auction.

Nobody ever listens to me...Seriously.

Put a candle in the opening, let the wax melt down the sides and...BOOM...modern art, sell for a hundred. It is all in the presentation.

It was only funny the first time. If she does that it will be uglier than ugly and she will get even less money for it. :coffee2:

Find me one capiz shell vase from the Phillipines that has sold for over $100.

The starting bid is meaningless

The buy now price is also meaningless

There are no bids. We need to find one that has actually sold. Seriously. You can do a search of sold listings on eBay which I did and the price for capiz vases is as I stated.
