That is pretty cheap! You took the SE to virign sites. Come on, dude, uhhhh, let me take a cheap Radio Shack datector to my virgin sites, then compare it to my Pro XL finds. The Radio Shack is BETTER! That is funny!

Your DFX could compete just as much! Don't give me that load of cheese and crackas.

Why do you Indian Heads in those protective things? They are bronze, not wilver. Heck, I don't even protect my wilver. If I found a Capped, I would want to feel it in my hand.

Just like I presented Mr. Snuffy's Colonial coppa find to you and you didn't believe him, I ain't believing you only found 3 on voygin sites. You are just out to start a war. Dudes, you thought I was bad, I think Storm has surpassed my "so-called" belittling.

I appreciate the post and the information. I have owned Garrett's for the last 15 years and have found about 18,000 coins in that time frame detecting off and on in that time. I now have the 2500 GTI and love it, but in the last few months of being on tnet I am becoming more open minded. I have been loyal to Garrett to a fault, but have been wanting to try an SE and at least compare it. I can't afford both at the moment and don't want to be without my Garrett, but I think in the next month I will be able to afford both. For the times when I am out clad stacking locally I know I can't beat the Garrett with the GTI and the pinpointing capabilities. A true hunter would never have just one type of gun, so why limit yourself to 1 detector brand? Has anyone been duck hunting with a 30-06? Thanks for the posts, I for one like to see the posts comparing brands. Besides, can't we all just get along ...Ryan

I think you've done tremendous research and have really learned how to use your detector (I couldn't care less what brand it is). Get back out there and find some more - stop wasting time arguing

Did each detector go to the same sites and hit the same signals?

I own 2 minelabs, but I don't think this post will accomplish anything, except make people defensive.

Hey Storm, I think you'd get alot of honest answers from people on TNet, but also brand loyal people as well and from both sides. Personally I enjoyed the pics and would have wished you said if you had "tweaked" the DFX to see how it did, as well as the Minelab. I own two Minelabs now and have sold two others(why have four??) and I play with the settings somewhat, more a couple years ago. I don't think you knocked the DFX, but if you just used the preset settings then I believe you would not have gotten most of those coins that you recovered with the Minelab. I think its easier with the Minelab(learning curve) than the DFX (and I have owned both) and you do get deeper targets with fewer adjustments with the Minelab, but once tweaked the DFX is a bear too! Still like the post and the pics!

I would say by info given that you have had better luck with the minelab, But is it better?? I couldn't say. I would use the best detector you could afford and leave it at that .
I have 2 fishing poles and they are exactly alike but one has caught more fish?? Is it better??

Kurk was not the reason for this experiment. But you are right, he does get under my and others skin. I just cant believe there are so many Brand Loyal Detectorist that will try to make an argument even with the facts presented in front of them.

Minelab is one of the few brands of detectors that I have not owned mainly because of the price but it looks like a winner to me. They have always been known to dig deep but you also have to dig deep in your pocket but most brands higher end machines are that way. Great finds and congrats.

You got some nice finds there Storm. I bought a DFX a couple of weeks ago and I am not convinced that its all that is cracked up to be. Ive used a White's Spectrum eagle for years and I think I prefer it at this point. Don't get me wrong I wont be switching anytime soon because i think it has great potential. I just have to learn it like I learned my Eagle. However if I bump into some where in Portland and your pockets are bulging with silver I might switch LOL.

Yes, There were some signals compared using my hunting partners SE vs. My DFX.

Yes Kirk, you are right.  There are so many Colonial Coppa's Here in Oregon that we need you to come out here and find them because no one else is good enough to locate them.
