Hi all. Hope your day was as good as mine. Last week while trying to get permission at a couple nice old farm houses, I met the daughter of one of the owners. She volunteered her house to me and when I asked her how old it was, she told me it was built in 1832. I was able to go this morning for the first time. Beautiful old house that is very well maintained and she and her husband share it with their 2 very young sons. Great people! Anyway, My first target of the day was an Indian. The last target ( yep, on the way back to the car! ) was an Indian. The good stuff was in between lol. I got a few firsts out of the way ~ a Barber dime, Barber quarter and a beautiful ornate little buckle that I believe is a knee buckle. Hope you more knowledgeable members will enlighten me. Looks like the oldest IH of the 4 I got is an 1864 ( my oldest IH! ). Hope you enjoy the pics. BTW, I only did the front yard and one side yard in 3 1/2 hours so hopefully I can return and find some more!

OD that's a fantastic hunt. Congrats. I believe the buckle may be a suspender buckle. Congrats on all the great coins and that a nice old ih. The silver cleaned up nicely

Wow dave those barbers are some beauties, I figured that place was holding some goods, and yes that buckle is really nice. Toy gun?

Heck of a hunt!, you deserve it!

Ok I meant luger lol I obviously don't know my guns

Thanks Abe! With all the buckles you've found it probably is a suspender, and not as old as a knee, darn it! I am happy with it anyway, lol.

Thanks Chris. First target was an IH and the buckle was the 3rd target, so I had a good hunt in the first 30 minutes!:laughing7:

The reason I say it's not a knee buckle is because the design isn't quite right and they fell out of favor in the 1790s basically in favor of ties at the knee line

Awesome ID Johnny! Thanks much!

I bet there's alot more there!
Did u have to give the owners anything?

I was hoping to have found a 1700's site, darn it! Thank you much sir!

No. The husband asked me to text him if I was coming and when I got there, I didn't see any vehicles so I just got out and started hunting. About 2 hours into the hunt, I heard a tv or something come on but never saw anyone. When I talked to him on Wednesday, he said " I hope you'll share if you find something REALLY valuable." I told him absolutely. Nothing valuable to anyone but me today lol!

Nice, that's how it's done, way to get right to it w/o driving around forever looking for a spot!

I could always be wrong but it doesn't look like any of the knee buckles I've seen before bud. Still a fantastic hunt regardless my friend

That was a hunt to remember OD. Those are nice Barbers. I like digging the Great Seal buttons because of someone's military service maybe in WW1 or WW2. WTG, Q.

Thanks Mr. Q. This is the 3rd Great Seal button I have found but each was a little different. Different eras or size made them all unique. My service in the USAF made me appreciate them.

Those coins are amazing! Love the buckle, aswell. Can't wait till you get to the backyard and we get to see those pics.

Just goes to prove, if one stays at it long enough, they'll find a place with good potential.

The rest, is the fun.

Excellent saves!

Very very nice finds...congraTS!

Beautiful Barbers and the other finds are great also, great hunt, couldn't happen to a nicer gentleman!
