Congratulations on your 1877 IH find Loco and on making the BANNER! :occasion14:

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

Dave

Thanks all for the banner votes. I didn't know what I had :dontknow: until I talked to my brother-in-law. He collects coins and has at least one of every date & mint mark pennies/censt ever minted except for 7, this 1877 is one of the 7 open slots in the collection. :occasion14:

The deal I had with the owner was that if I found 2 old similar coins he would take the less valuable. He's getting the 1st IHP I pulled on his property, an 1889 in a thank you card that will be mailed. He lives over 50 miles away from this local property.

Maybe I'll see if there is a coin collecting club in the county and see if they could grade the coin, I believe it teeters between VF & XF, but what do I know? ???

Isn't this the best hobby ever :icon_thumleft:

Thank God for your Brother in law and the heads up!
Years ago I would swing, dig and have a nip or two.. Or three. So I dug a 1924 s penny... Hmm,I'm thinking that's the first s I have seen?.. Sure is clean and sharp...Oh well into the pouch and forget it.....now? I would love to have my 400$ penny back....once again LD , awesome coin in great shape found by a dedicated ground pounder God bless, Al.

WOW, Loco, I'm so sorry I have not been on the site in a while. Congratulations on a great banner find, I'm very happy for you. See, you didn't even have to get wet to find her!

Awesome find! Congratulations :icon_thumright:

Congrats on finding one of the best known key date coins to find. The condition on the coin is impressive as its rarity. :notworthy:

You have become my motivation to cover up and put in another day of digging. SLEEP WHEN DEAD!!! Great find!!! CONGRATS!!!!:occasion14:

Congrats that's awesome!!!

Congrats on that incredible coin, I think that is the best 1877 I have seen found. I fixed up the photos for you too.

Congrats on that big IHP coup !!! Its been hard finding any IHP this year for me and all I have gotten so far was the one Fatty 1860 something one. Haven't been getting on much since its the off hunting season for me here. Ground is hard and dry and the humidity has been bad along with the heat , skeets, and all the other irritating insects !

This is my best year for pennies and LCs. I only dug one IHP last season and 6 so far this year. No LC's last year and 2 for 2015. Permissions are they way to go!!!

loco, Congrats on the key-date indian head piece! Hope you get more before winter sets in.....
