I stopped a a location on my way down to Virginia. Sure glad I stopped at a spot a friend recommended. I dug these four buttons from a pounded field, all within 10' of one another. When I say there were no high signals in this place I mean none...pounded to death. Also there was fill everywhere besides on fertile strip between the two fill spots. All the finds came from there. These buttons showed up as 12-20/21/22, all of them. The other finds for the day was a big ol to bad button, a musketball, and some small buckles.

I posted them earlier on another post and found out they were GW's. Here were all of my finds.

The heraldic eagle with 6 point estoile and square punch border is the variety. The best part is they all have their shanks.

I'm over the moon. I texted Ahab, Bill D, and Vino and all confirm. Wow.
Thanks SwingBeepDig for the spot. I owe you buddy!

Sorry for the not so good pics. I'm on the road in a hotel room in Virginia.

Enjoy!

Scrappy your post up is getting lots of attention, and still waiting for it to happen. Have you given it any thoughts on cleaning and displaying?

Hey Pepp. I have thought about cleaning. I actually went over Bill D's house the other day and showed him the buttons. He was in the same camp as me with minimal cleaning and leaving them as-is. They're real delicate and are going in a display as soon as I get home.

I ACTUALLY DONT THINK HE WORE THEM ALL - THINK THE CARD OR PAPER THEY WERE ATTACHED (SUPPOSEDLY HOW THEY WERE SOLD) TO WAS LOST - AND THATS WHY THEY WERE SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER

That sounds about right.

Scrap,, thanks for sharing those numbers. When I was first learning the Etrac, I dug out nothing but pull tabs on those numbers. There is a big difference between hunting a farm field and hunting a NYC park.
Congrats on an outstanding accomplishment.

I bet you are glad you still knew what a pull tab sounded like Scrappy.:D

Congrats~~

Thx. Oh I dug about two dozen tabs that day. Pull tabs that day were a little all over the place with readings, but these buttons all had a very tight and exact reading, and sound.

Finding a GW button is a great feeling and multiple is just killer your actually confirming some facts also..I guess they came in sets.
We have seen some in Virgina,NJ,NY,PA,MA,RI and CT takes the crown with COUNTRYMUSICNUT and crew out in CT...
All i have to say is why is this not on THE BANNER!

Thanks for the banner vote Blaze. Like you said finding 4 George Washington inaugural buttons don't happen often, yet, I think this thread is just about wrapped.

You'll have to count the divots around the rim to determine the specific variety but those are outstanding finds!!

Hey Buck, thanks for checking it out. I counted 37 divits on each and they're approximately 18mm.

Haven't been on here in a while for several reasons. Just saw this.....epic hunt from digging the unlikely signals in a "hunted out location"--congrats!! Love to see them again when they're cleaned up.

Wow, epic button hunt. Huge congrats!!

amazing finds steve, unbelievable to get so many in ONE hunt!!, just a bit baffled that its not up top yet ???

Thanks Eric. To be honest I'll probably leave them as-is. They're delicate and look perfect to me. Some preservation is probably all I'll do.

I finally got home and did a light cleaning and preservation. The eagle head is now visible and the legs and star more pronounced. I'm very happy with the results. I took three and can't decide which is best.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1445777226.118117.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1445777234.956077.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1445778013.031291.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1445778093.856080.jpg

The others didn't get any betterImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1445777426.324417.jpg

Enjoy everyone and happy hunting
