Unless it was in a boat, car, truck, SUV or bus and possibly a bicycle, I would not make it there. You only have to slide sideways down an Airport runway twice in an airliner (passenger aircraft) to break you from flying!

I'm going with the theory the banks were closed that day, so those folks buried what they had. Particularly before a battle or a siege. Rather like the hoards of Roman coins found in Britain, or the Viking plants.
