Walking in my neighborhood the other day with the dog, I met these 2 guys who have all the guy toys in their driveways,you know the type,they have Harley's,jet skies,bass boats,etc. Any way the one tells me what wear you picking up in the road a minute ago,I said a dime,I found a dime in the road so I picked it up.They both kind of laughed at me and said are you that poor that you have to pick up coins. I said no I just like to do it and didn't see anything wrong with it.The other one asked how much do you usually find,I lied and told them only a few cents.Well today I'm up early 7am and walking my dog when I see one coming down the street and he rolls down the window and throws a handfull of change at me.I'm glad I was looking down,or I would have got it in the face.He threw $1.30 in coins at me,and laughed as he drove away.
I've herd of this happening to guys detecting on the beach sometimes.

And yeah, I've had people toss pennies in front of me on the beach before. I just keep swinging the coil over the coins and keep walking. I don't give them the satisfaction. ~ and besides, they all probably live pretty unhappy lives.

Next time they do that ask them why they are so cheap, how about throwing some paper money.

Simple fact if they throw change while driving by and it hits you that can cause injury and can also be reported for harassment ...id have no problem reporting them and filing complaints against them if there acting like they are

I had some kids doing that to me and I started picking up, they threw more and I picked those up. Then, one turned to the other and said "Gimme some more to throw." His friend shrugged and said he didn't have anymore.

I said, "I know where they are and walked away."

I only wish I could get my neighbors to throw money at me. But they all know Im cheap and I would just horde it away in a jar. I think they've figured "if he's picking it out of the ground it must be worth something". I've even offered some my paper money in trade for their change ; after some strange looks they usually politely pass. It's all about perception , if people think it's valuable to you , they usually wan't to keep it for themselves.

Don't worry man , you're in the right , and are having way more fun !

It brings up an interesting point though. I wonder how many here "HAVE" to pick up a penny if they see one? I sometimes leave one when I see it, (not while hunting), and just let some kid have a happy day finding a penny. As long as we're not turning into a "Mr. Monk", I think we're ok.
