Missing piece of the "picture frame" found!

I thought a find of this magnitude would be a no brainer for a banner? My vote is going in!

Who has the picture frame? The state?

Fisheye,
Last time I saw it, it was in the Mel Fisher Museum in Sebastian.
I took this photo of it a few years back..haven't seen it since.

Raw Footage of the find

Florida Family Strikes Gold While on Sunken Treasure Hunt -- Again - ABC News

A Florida man literally struck gold when he unearthed a "priceless" religious artifact from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
The sunken treasure was discovered at the site of a shipwreck that happened nearly 300 years ago off the coast of Ft. Pierce. It's the missing piece of a necklace that was discovered at the same wreck in 1989.
Called a pyx, the ornate gold trinket is a Spanish artifact used by priests to hold the communion host, Brent Brisben, the operations manager of Queens Jewels, told ABC News.

Now that's the type of detecting find I wouldn't expect to make at my local city park!! :laughing7: :o
Beautiful relic, hope it make it into a museum display for everyone to appreciate!

Congrats on making the BANNER,
Dave

Congrads to both crews, past and present for the time and effort on such a beautiful piece of history. May the future hold many more, be safe.........And thanks for sharing.

How big is it? I thought it was the size of a picture frame but someone mentioned part of a necklace.

OUTSTANDING! Way to go and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Awesome! I saw a video of this online. Didnt realize you were actually on Tnet. Awesome find! Just awesome!

The consensus is starting to look like this is a pyx.

How certain are we that this is a pyx? I only ask because the filigree design would allow the Blessed Sacrament to be exposed to the elements, dirt, etc. A pyx is used to transport the Host, whilst a monstrance (the image of one appears on the center piece) is used for Exposition and Benediction, when Host is visible. I have not seen a pyx of this design before, and it is possible there are additional missing pieces. But that is just this pre-Vatican II Tridentine Rite Catholic's tuppence...

Beautiful find. You don't see craftsmanship like that anymore. How deep was this object found?
