Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

Hi Mikel, they also use the term """sabe todo""" to effectively say the same thing. It can go both ways.depending upon your infection.

Oro is a sabe todo. while poor xxxxx is also a sabe todo

Sabe todo - really? Didn't I just tell you that mi Espanol was just enough to get me into trouble, indicating that NAMES like that are among my very short Spanish vocabulary? And this right after I just finished telling our mutual amigo Cactusjumper Joe,

Joe the stuff I don't know would fill whole sets of encyclopedias!

Sheesh Don Jose - drink yer coffee and don't ask about the sock! :tongue3: You are getting "special" coffee!
:coffee2: :coffee2:

That 'was' a complement Oro, :notworthy: you are doing just fine, as everyone can testify.. I was comparing the difference between you, a true know it all, and BB a self proclaimed Sabetodo, who couldn't back up anything that he supposedly knew all about --- navigation for example..

You are constantly amazing me with little known subjects.and deep knowledge.

Why- n- ell do you think I picked you for Tayopa?? Twasn't for your good looks !:laughing7::laughing7::occasion14:

Passa me some coffee, and none of that instant stuff. Ya need grounds so that you can crunch a few between your teeth for a bit of added flavor - you know what I mean.

After all , who else would allow me to pet their man eater ? on second thought, there's Tayopa in the background with only you knowing the secret if anything happened to me hmmmm :icon_scratch:

Thanks for the coffee Amigo, my Compadre Don Jose likes it with extra flavor, so just wring the sock into his cup.

Senor Don Jose…….do not open the door, nor board the ship………because you have not made progress in writing your book, both Senoritas JudyH and Mastiff are on the way to make good their threats……..sabers sharpened, planks waxed……..not sure if there is hope, were to write a few pages between now and their arrival…….time to light the fire, fill the sock, brew some coffee, and write! The bonita Señorita from England will type it for you if needed…..although I am not sure British English is proper for any treasure story……
Vaya con Dios mis amigos…..

COAZONE de ORO, WHERE IN TEXAS DO YOU HANG YOUR HAT. I BOUNCED AROUND THE STATE FOR MOST OF MY YOUTH. FROM CRANE TO ODESSA, TO BIG "D"/FW, TO POINT AND FLATS,TO DENTON AND LEWISVILLE AND GRAPEVINE. OTHERS LESS TRAVELED.

THEN TO ARKANSAS AND BACK, AND BACK TO ARKANSAS, THEN TO CALIFORNIA AND NOW 42 YEARS, 8 MONTHS / A TRUE ARKIE. I CANNOT BARE TO LEAVE THESE BEAUTIFUL OZARK MOUNTAINS.

NOW, AS FOR DON JOSE,... I CANNOT POINT MY FINGER AT HIM, ABOUT BOOK WRITING, I AM ALSO IN GRIDLOCK ON MY OWN. WHAT STARTED OUT AS A LABOR OF LOVE HAS BECOME A BURDEN TO MY SPIRIT. I MUST GO OUT AND BRAVE THE COLD TO BREAK THE CODE OF TRIANGLES. I HAVE NOT CLIMBED HIGH ENOUGH UP THE BLUFF TO LAY MY HANDS ON THE STONES. I HAVE LAID MY EYES ON THE NEATLY STACKED [BRICK ON A SHOE BOX, SIZED] STONES, AND I KNOW THEY ARE THERE. THERE IS MUCH WORK TO DO THERE IN THAT SPACE WHERE I CANNOT STAND. MY BODY ACHES ALMOST AS MY HEART ACHES TO SEE IT FINISHED.

I AM SURE THAT DON JOSE HAS STRUGGLES FROM WITHOUT AND WITHIN, AS WELL.
I PRAY THAT HE FINISHES HIS SO I CAN READ IT AND HOLD HIS HISTORY IN MY HANDS.

I THINK I NEED MORE COFFEE FOR NOW. WHERE ARE MY CLEAN SOCKS???

Howdy Prospectormikel,

That would be the Wild Horse Desert of South Texas, LaSalle county, close to Cotulla. I have bounced from Kingsville, to Cotulla, Peoria, Illinois, San Antonio, Refugio, Encinal, Pasadena, and back to Cotulla. I was one of those natural born welders, I have seen many professionals who could not duplicate my first bead in high school. I went from high school straight to welding for Caterpillar in the East Peoria plant. I don't like cold weather, and came back to Texas, welding got me into the gas fields where I worked for 19 years before being disabled.

Arkansas is a nice place, I have only passed through it several times. Many don't like the South Texas brush county, and I don't blame them, but it's where I grew up, and feel at home among the heat, and thorns.

Yes the treasure legends threads is where the real stories are found, and most here have something they are working on. I am trying to get by the smallest of five legends that are spread over four states. On four I more certain that Don Jose is of his Tayopa, the other just needs to be verified with a good two box. I have never owned a metal detector, maybe when I uncover the first legend, I will get what I need to verify the biggest legend.

I also look forward to Don Jose's book, he doesn't need any help when it comes to writing. I also look forward to your book, to find out what kind of stones you are talking about. If I ever put a book out, it would be a coloring book, as I have no writing skills.:laughing7: :coffee2::coffee2::coffee2::coffee2:

Well we all are awaiting Señor Don Jose's book……but it may be too late as the Senoritas are near El Toyopa now…….with saber and plank in hand, it will be an ugly scene of pages written or the plank with a saber behind……..
It would only be the mercy of Señor Crow who could grant clemency to our friend……..

Nonsense, you can collaborate with Judy, Uni, and oro.

I see. So after our years of discussing your book, you are falling back on the old dodge to try to shift the work and responsibility of preserving the history to others. Were I to write it, do you think it would have the detail, the stories and incidents you experienced, or even your style of writing? I would remind you that I have never set foot at Tayopa and don't see that in the immediate future, but even so, were I to go there and live at Tayopa full time now, it would not include the decades of your hunt, experiences, and life in the quest. Even the landscape has changed, with new roads and development in areas where you ranged across wilderness. Really I am a bit shocked that you are willing to break your own word and promises to write this book, and let others do it, which will hardly be a shadow of what you hold inside your head. I had thought you are "old school" about such things.

I remind you that I never made any promise(s) to write the book on Tayopa, have other projects and promises to fulfill and the reasons already explained repeatedly - it is you that lived it, not me. With the help of collaboration I suppose some kind of a book could be cobbled together, which would be of dubious value. Not trying to cast aspersions on the collaborators, but none of us have lived it while you alone have. At this point I guess we are not going to see your book on Tayopa after all. No worries amigo, I won't bother you about it again, will settle for the pieces that you have shared with us on the forums.

Good luck and good hunting to all reading this, I hope you find the treasures that you seek.

Was it the caffeine...or the sock? I told ya'll I was better at stomping grapes...sheesh.

Got anything stronger, like blackberry brandy? I am not supposed to have any alcohol but guess it might help at this point. BTW my apologies if my last post came across the wrong way, I have no doubt that your writing skills, experiences and knowledge could produce an excellent book on Tayopa, and would say the same to our mutual friend Unicorn too - just that our recalcitrant procrastinating Real de Tayopa has lived it and would make the best possible result. I guess we will never see that book though.

Hmmm I think I will send Luptia an electric cattle prod to get that stubborn mule moving.... To much of my jungle Rum in his coffee. It was page 51 months ago ya could been one third of the way there by now.
