Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

Finally!! It got cold enough to drive the bugs into hiding.

Now I want to go out into the woods... As soon as the snow and ice are gone, and the wind dies down, and the sun comes out, and it warms back up.

Crud, that'll be summer again.......

Hello TT,

Hope all is well.

How are things with you?

IPUK

IPUK ..great to hear from you and HNY!..long time....how is it going in your new venture? On my side the year passed mainly concentrating to grasp the cloak and dagger world of art and antiques ...with the aspiration to TH lost antiques and art...also did some searches but mainly study reading and visits...the strategy is to do THing on the here and now items of antiques in general ...and prepare for the mainstrean treasure hunting we were discussing for the future...
The trio have also disappeared.. I wonder where they would strike next8-)..so how is it in your side?

Tin Tin, my mistake!
It was South Sea Mariner's post, addressed to you.

Like I said... I read for a long time...
I went back to see the link and stopped when I saw your name.

It was past my bed time. Sorry for the mixup and thanks for waking me to my blooper.

Hell they left me guess what what when, if......

Howdy, South Sea Mariner.

I erroneously thanked Tin Tin for your posted link... Now I'm a little less medicated and more informed, so I'll thank you for it.

It had a lot of familiar posts in it, or maybe it was my meds???!

Even at the very familiar (present day) ending, there are unanswered questions.

The Jose/ORO link always gets tossed into the enigma end of the pool!

I am so happy to have this Tnet family.
It's not so bad to live in interesting times.

Best Wishes for the New Year to you as well, mate. Most certainly been awhile since our regular exchanges on here...:occasion14:

I've been busy with various things, and finally got a result in Guyana! There was some chaps I'd met previously on my travels who needed some 'support' for a project they wanted to set-up and I assisted with various things. It was most satisfying getting a 'reward' for services rendered; I am yearning for the next one...:laughing7:

Good to hear that you are still looking, listening, learning about the area that has grabbed your attention. There are places in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Egypt (no doubt there are a whole host of other countries around the globe as well), where, if you are "in the know" and suitably connected, you can buy arts and antiquities from the Indo-Greek and Roman eras just as easily as you'd pop down to buy some groceries from the local store. In Egypt, there has been a sudden rush of antiquities that have been stolen/robbed/appropriated from Libya since the collapse of the Gaddafi regime, that are extremely rare and valuable, exchanging hands for relatively small amounts of money. It does entail dealing with nefarious and dubious characters though...

The Trio - and Amy! - have been busy with various things and have not posted for some time but are missed by all.

If anything, the truly big appetite for this treasure lark, is growing into a gargantuan one for moi...

Reckon you're in the same boat...

There really is so much to see, do, read, discover if one merely scratches the surface and is willing to take a little chance/risk/gamble from time to time. It's not for everyone and it isn't right or proper if you cannot 'afford' it in any way, and I mean that in all the different connotations connected to the word. However, those that have a small dream, hope, aspiration or even some ambition in this field, push yourself, try something different, take another approach. Sometimes it really does work!

Evening, to see the country that I was exploring go to

. It was almost depopulated then due to the reveloution. the trails were almost gone, and in many cases I had to make my own, I often went for weeks without meeting anyone. I remember that waterfall, or one just like it. That's where I caught trout for my dinners

You were your own law in those days, and always went armed.

Frankly I loved the feeling of complete freedom.

An word from your sister's husband yet Mickel ??

Great to hear your progress! I am really happy you got something rolling out in SA...one thing may lead to another and I hope 2017 will be more fruitful...thanks for the great insights as usual ! For the moment since my radius of life is a bit restricted currently I just attempt some searches in local flea markets, second hand shops etc but mainly I am just studying as the art and antique world is rather wide and the associated intrigue a huge topic by itself...also familiarizing your eyes with genuine antique features so that to avoid fakes is itself not easy....but sure there is huge potential on a global scale though dealing with shady people as well as restrictive laws and problems dealing with stolen relics are minefields one has to be careful of...
I hope you would give us a yarn or two when u feel it..

TT

Thank you for the kind words, TT.

Yes, please be careful; fakes have fooled the very best of 'experts', and there is never ever a shortage of less than scrupulous folk willing to take advantage...

No problem with regards to the yarns - we'll start our regular Friday evenings again...

Take care,

IPUK
