Misc data and adventures of a Tayopa treasure hunter

Ladies & Gentlemem, It occurs to me that when I post right after someone else on the same type of story. At first it may appear to be a 'one upper',, but it is not so, it is just that the post did remind me of a similar happening.

My reatively long life so far has allowed me to accunulate many, many things, some times I surprise myself on how things click. My appologies to those that might have been irrated in the past, and especially to my friends in here. :coffee2::coffee2::coffee2::coffee2::coffee2:

I think that every story posted here is top shelf reading material.

And by the way , that reminds me of....

Amigo's and Amigo-ettes,:coffee2 ,I remember one winter while I was laying in my bed roll next to the fire,It was still daylight, and I could see in this small canyon not far away lines and lines of big headed and big eyed creatures, there was three or four caves that they kept going in and out of,and they would go in one cave carrying stuff and dropping it off and coming out of the other caves, I was so captivated by them ,It was an amazing site to see, Finally I fell asleep, when I woke up later they were all gone, I guess army ants just can't take the cold, I bet you were thinking this was an :alien::alien:story,:hello:NP:cat:

I believe this happened after you have smoked the Indian Peace pipe filled with the Superstitions weed .

Re-reading some of the recent stuff on knives reminded me of a lesson that I learned many years ago.

I was at that age when sideburns and fuzz on the upper lip were almost visible, without a magnifying mirror. Someone came up with those pearls of wisdom, " They don't thicken up, 'till ya shave 'em off."

I think it was an older cousin that said that, and he had sideburns, a mustache and wind-up razor with "NASA" stamped into the shell.

It couldn't get much cooler than to get my first shave with an astronaut shaver.

I had to try it out. I flipped the switch and went straight for the lip.... It stopped running and I was trapped. My cousin said
" Oh man, you should have wound it up first." It felt like an hour passed while I tried to wind it up. It was only getting worse.

My eyes were flooded and my nose was just filling the shaver head with snot. I was sure that I was going to die of dehydration with that thing stuck on my lip. I was sure that my classmates would come to my funeral and I would be the laughing stock of the entire school... Forever.

It was at that moment that my older brother made me realize that I was wrong on both great fears.

He hit my arm and instantly, the shaver was off my lip and I realized I was not dehydrated!

At least below the belt!

Actually Jose, I was playing with the I and the E..

One needs a winch, as opposed to a wench, to get unstuck.

Actually, the winch is only good when you want to go forward. And sometimes that is either not possible, or not a good idea. Of course, getting stuck in the first place was probably not a good idea.....

Uh short finger, they have a roller bar mounted on the bottom of the winch mounting assembly which allows you to pass the cable under the vehicle, and to the rear. Not too good for the cable though, too sharp of the turn radius. But sometimes a new cable is worth it.

I remember my uncle getting a dozer buried up to the belly pans.

He sent a few of us to find fifty foot chains, while he backed in two other dozers into position. When we delivered the chains he hooked one end to the unstuck dozers, then he welded the other ends to the tracks.
I thought he had lost his mind, but when the chain ends had made their way to their ends the tracks stopped spinning and the dozer pulled itself out of the mud pit.

Seldom did I go out with him, that I failed to learn something .

Thanks uncle Bob, where ever you are!

Not too good for the cable, not too good for whatever the cable is riding on under the vehicle, and, depending on how far down into the feces the vehicle is, it may not even be possible to get the cable under the vehicle.....Been there, done that.

When I had my CJ5, my winch could be moved and plugged in at either end.

</;0{>

Good idea, and possible with a small winch, which is adequate with a CJ-5. On my Chevy pickup which I used to run the SoCal desert, I mounted a low profile winch in the back of the truck. If I got stuck and still wanted to go forward (which wasn't often), I would winch myself out backwards, back up to the place i got stuck at, then winch myself out of or over the obstacle. When I got past the problem, I could turn around and continue on. If there was no place to turn around, then I didn't go forward....

But if it is a wench, that uses a wrench, to winch you with,.....

Be afraid,...very afraid.
