NP,

You should keep in mind that Ischemic Heart Disease goes hand in hand with Diabetes, it's almost automatic. Keep a close watch on your heart, as well as looking out for Neuropathy. If you're not already rated at 100% disability by the VA, it can add to your monthly payment.

Good luck,

Joe

Amigo:coffee2: I did write about my heart problems, I had a stroke close to 9 years ago,I never fully recovered from that, that's also when I found out that I had diabetes and high blood pressure. then in nov-dec of 14 and 15, I had Quadruple bypass, yes, I am fully aware of all this, I used private doctor's for my heart problems, not VA, I had my surgery done at las vegas; as far as VA goe's I have always been a life member of DAV and was represented by MOPH, the whole experience I went through I wouldn't wish on anyone, but so far I have never had any problems with the VA, thanks for asking, and WELCOME HOME BROTHER,:hello: NP:cat:

The only problem I have with the VA is waiting to get care……..it does not seem what you need, there is a very long wait and good luck trying to change an appointment, at least this is my over a decade long experience with 3 different VA's…….once you are in, the care was good or better.

Not by me. You are always welcome. More Zin?

JB

Thank you, JB.... wine.gif

And glad to see you posting, doc...there were several of us concerned after the quake. Welcome back!

NP, I also have type 2 diabetes, but I am managing it very well and am on the road fully recovering from it. I started the ketogenic diet, actually it's not a diet at all, its just a different style of eating. Plenty of greens and salads(kale, spinach, broccoli, asparagus) also plenty of good fats, olives, olive oils, onions, garlic, beets, eggs, and avacado added to my salads. Also fry everything in olive oil and or butter(not margarine). No sugar((I use stevia), no carbs or minimal. No potatoes, no bread or very little. All fruits and vegetables, fish(mackerel, tuna salmon, sardines) chicken (dark meat), grilled. I have bacon and eggs or or oatmeal for breakfast. Salads for lunch, and a good meal in the evening. Snacking on carrot sticks and celery sticks with peanut butter or pimento cheese. Good Luck. rockhound

I have only been on this diet for a week, but I can already see a big improvement in my diabetes and blood pressure. Diabetes numbers have dropped 25 points and BP has dropped 20 points to a very healthy level. I go to the doctor Friday for a checkup. I may not be taken off my medicines this week but next time I go to the doctor I want to be taken of all my meds. If I can stay with this diet, I feel sure I can be free from the meds. Good luck. rockhound

Turn 'em all loose....heheheh....:whip2:

Back to work, Jefe! :evil5:

Regarding the recent 7.8 earthquake, we survived the quake well, although there was some deaths and damage around us, the worst hit was north of us.
Traveling there shortly after to help out, it was amazing to see the damage to building, roads and landslides……..many structures destroyed, collapsed and the gov number of dead is way low IMHO (and others who know here)……..think 2 to 3,000…..
While nature has buried some of it's treasures, it has also uncovered other treasures……treasures just waiting to be recovered.

Now would be a good time to buy some ocean front property it seems also……many structures remained intact, and to build a seismic resistant beach house would not be difficult or expensive.
Many now are trying to figure out why so many collapsed, while others not……..one answer may be using beach sand (unwashed)……the contaminants and salt weaker the cement…….sadly, building insurance for earthquakes is almost nonexistent here…….

Good to hear that you are well, Doc. Sorry to hear about the terrible destruction. All are in our thoughts and prayers.

JB

Doc, gentlemen, the reason so many buildings collapse during an earthquake is that they are not tied in,together, nor is the roof. Typical adobe construction..

The walls on my home are 3 - 4 ft thick but are built as a free standing structure, I had to tie them in with verticl concrete pilars and renforcing on all four corners.and also tie the roof with replacement concrete beamc tied in at the ends.

Still I shudder at the thought of what would happen to my poor computer :laughing7:

Jose, I know that feeling about your computer.
Our recent tornado activity promoted me to bury my laptop in my closet and stack almost every book and document that I have on top of it.

The things that we do for
loved ones ..
