And drink I shall as awoke that dusky maiden has given me a raunchy birthday surprise with some sweet sweet loving, no better start to the morning with a breakfast of bacon and eggs. To hell with health food police today I intend to enjoy myself.


And as usual side tracked where was I? Yeah the yarn....

Okay I will type a bit more...

The following treasure story has deep connections to the events previous mentioned. However like all treasure legends there are two versions. This may be one or two separate stories with very close connection. The treasure story is connected to events surrounding a filibuster William Walker who no doubt was big believer in the manifest destiny of colonial expansionism and the early ideals of the then forming ideals of KCG who deplored the Norths concept of Monroe doctrine of not getting involved in the affairs of central and South America. He has this vision of a Anglo Saxon slave states in Central America that would align themselves with States of the South To counter the growing anti slavery influence of the Northern States of the United States. He first had tried Baja and then Mexico itself then went down to central America on a private Filibustering expeditions in 1850's. Many men hungry for fortune and glory followed him. Many experience misery and death. Some broke away on their own agendas, more akin to out right piracy looting and murder.

Don Jose the island is inundated with schoolies running muck for a week. My bar is over run by sweet young 18 somethings wanting to party and procreate. the island tourism has a spike for a week or so. So has condom sales on the island. Gee knew i should of bought that vending machine.

As you can imagine a bit distraction for this old pirate on his birthday. I will continue the story as Time permits amigo among little grandpa bursts of partying.

Patience my friends only half tanked and tell the yarn gets better with proper lubrication. Hell is not even lunch time. Er.. Okay Okay I know what ya all thinking... it hard for and old pirate to change his habits..... But hey I always said this tropical tramp dead beat beach bum was going out disgracefully.

Anyway tune is to see me tell the yarn and progressively destroy myself during the day with walks of shame between my beach house and the bar by then squinting with one barely able to see with Simon's infamous beer glasses. It amazing how handsome you look in mirror with those glasses on.

Yeah it strange day of mystery amigo as usual the local casino skinned me. And some mystery women is searching for me? Some one from this wicked black Crows past perhaps? But true to this ragged old Crows word I will continue the yarn.

Now for those who know their history of William Walkers foray into central America. Will know that William Walker was a true believer of the manifest destiny. Even if some of cohorts was did not? For some I would image it was chance to loot and pillage. For those who do not know here is brief history lesson of one of most well known filibusters who tried to take over countries in central America.

William Walker (May 8, 1824 – September 12, 1860) was an American physician, lawyer, journalist and mercenary, who organized several private military expeditions into Latin America, with the intention of establishing English-speaking Slave owning Colonies under his personal control, an enterprise then known as Filibustering. He had first tried with Baja California and Guyamas in Sonora but both met with huge resistance by the Mexicans and ended in failure. Walker later usurped the president of the Republic of Nicaragua in 1856 and ruled until 1857, when he was defeated by a coalition of Central American armies and an embarrassed United State Government stepped in and cut off supply to his army.. He was executed by the government of of Honduras in 1860. Many of his supporters was either executed or jailed in central American. Many fled where they could.

Stories of treasure came from these events from various sources. As said previously at least two more sources, perhaps even more. For in the time of Walkers control of Nicaragua he looted churches, convents and institutions of that country and the national treasury as well as taxed private citizens. When his 2 year rule disintegrated many of cohorts saw writing on wall and fled with various looted treasures.

Now continuing this drawn out saga of my fine friends, of this treasure story as alcohol lubrication levels ease the flow of words....Or so they tell me.....

As William walker got executed by firing squad remain supporters was fleeing the country. A group of American mercenaries stole one of Vanderbilt vessels in central America and decided to search Cocos island. Weather it was by chance or by design they anchored at Chapman Bay Cocos where in on the small island just off the bay they discovered a sea cave. In that cave they discovered a bronze chain anchored to a rock ledge of the cave following the other end of chain they found a chest containing 10000 gold coins on the sea floor. The source of this information was via letters that was in possession of Chris Weston who has since sold these private letters to mysterious Swiss millionaire several years ago.

The Mystery of what happened to these alleged discovered coins remain a mystery. However there may be a tenuous linked to a strange story surfaced later in Oregon?

Just as today we would have trouble in secret transforming such coins into American currency they perhaps had similar problems back in 1850's, especially returning from central America with all the trouble of William Walkers Filibustering expedition.

However the mystery remain of these coins?

Hello TT thanks for the birthday wish and patience my fine friend treasure legends need to be savored like fine wine. First the sniff of the story then a little taste of detail then savored in its entirety.

It late and it been long day in between the posts with a mix of wine, beer and spirits. And dead beat beach bum tropical tramps wreck themselves over time. As I type there has been mini stories going on around me as I reflect during the remains of the day as I approach the witching hour.

And the yarn continues..... Some legends and some various legends are indeed connected as treasure rehash themselves basically the same story but with changed or added detail. Some do indeed spring from the same thread. Dig into the history of such legends can indeed be very difficult. Truth can be stranger than fiction but finding the facts from the fiction can take many years of research. Some times many thankless ones at that....

The coast of Oregon my fine friends has it own share of treasure legends and as such one would have to ask was there any truth to such legends?

One such story was from the claims of man called John Hardman and in 1897 he relates an amazing story....
