Minelab Equinox available on Cabelas website

Pure speculation here, and I think someone suggested something along these lines in another forum, but I wonder if Minelab had a per-store allotment for its dealers. I see Cabelas has 82 stores in the US/Canada. So even if the allotment was 3 per store, as an example, that multiplies to quite a few total. On Cabelas end, it would be smart to have them all shipped to their central hub in IL. Rather than doling 3 each to store, they drop ship from one central hub and sell them all online, maximizing profit.

Not really feeling bad for the dealers here ... if you think about it, it's really not minelab's fault.

Any of the local dealers could have done what Cabelas is doing selling 10 or 20 machines at a time.

If they choose to take money up front and sit on a list, that is their choice.

These are just sales decisions.

That is completely NOT what is happening. The dealers all informed the distributors last year how many they needed to fill back orders. Minelab came out publicly just recently saying that because of short supplies, each dealers was only getting a few on the first shipment. But Cabelas has been selling many, many more and already had several runs while every other dealer in the country is still waiting on shipment #2.

No local dealer can do what cabelas is doing, because no local dealer has any to sell!!!

Just for a laugh I decided to check the Cablea's website here in Canada, and typed in Minelab.

Here was the result in their search filed.........."minelab corrected to mineral returned 47 results".

So anybody in Canada looking to get in on the quick(er) Minelab bonanza need not look here.

I still feel it prudent to support our sponsors whenever possible. Not only will the give you that personal touch should you have any questions or concerns about your purchase, but they will also be more likely to go to bat for you with Minelab should there be any problems with the detector.

How fast and friendly of a service will you get from Cabela's?

If however Cabela's wants to be a sponsor here, then that would be a different story.

I ordered mine on the same day. Order says shipped, but I still haven't received an email confirming anything except that it was ordered. :dontknow:

UPDATE: I just got an email from Cabela's that states order status change. My order has not shipped. The charge to my credit card has posted, but no tracking number or shipping confirmation. when talking to customer service, Cabela's has basically absolved themselves of any responsibility. They keep saying that it ships directly from the manufacturer and they have 7 days to ship it.

Lessons learned: 1) My impatience has cost me extra money that could be better spent on a good scoop or backup pinpointer. 2) Never order MD equipment from a company that is not a MDing company ( my conversation with Fort Bedford Metal Detectors was very insightful and refreshing)

With the number of stores they have, a few for each store could be a large number of machines.

I understand what you are saying though.

I'll take the blame for this. If there is ANYTHING that I want desperately RIGHT NOW, and I order it, I can guarantee 100% that it will NOT arrive on time.

If it's a telescope it's cloudy.
If it's a kite, its dreary and rainy.
If I order something next day air, it gets lost and needs to be re-shipped and I don't see it for two weeks.
If I am leaving on vacation it won't arrive until after.
If it ships in two boxes, I will only get the lesser one.

I'm sorry for whatever I did to deserve this.

Expected to ship 3/30! What in the heck is minelab doing!? I do not understand what is taking so long to get these machines produced and shipped out. Minelab knew the demand by the amount of buzz and pre orders placed with dealers. I thought the at max rollout was a disaster but this mess is making Garrett look good.

See what I mean lol. It's relentless.

If my local shop ships first, Cabelas could be getting a return I guess.

Looks like the dealers may have the upper hand again ... Cabelas just ran out of inventory.

Ordered mine on Tuesday (2-20-18). Just got this from Cabela's (Friday 2-23-18):

Thank you for your order for EQUINOX 800 METAL DETECTOR. The vendor has advised us that the item is currently out of stock and has been backordered. They are expecting to ship approximately the end of March. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused & thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Cabela’s Customer Service

ON THE PHONE WITH CABELA'S AS I TYPE THIS CANCELLING MY ORDER. I am not going to pay all that extra money AND have to wait for it with all of those on dealer lists.

On the Bright side......I now have an almost $200 to put towards a ProFind 35 or Stealth scoop. :)

The slow roll out keeps everyone talking about it

The demand world wide was much higher than Minelab anticipated they are not just shipping to the states the demand in Europe was high as well.
