Found this on a trial in East Texas, where I have found some military stuff in the past. This is about the size of a nickle (perhaps a little bigger and thicker) it is two to three times heavier than a nickle.

I used a microscope camera to take the photos, so it is as close as I can get. I don't see any defining details, but maybe someone out there knows something more!

Thank You in advance for your time? P1030046.JPGP1030044.JPGP1030042.JPGP1030040.JPGP1030038.JPGP1030037.JPGP1030036.JPGP1030034.JPGP1030033.JPGP1030031.JPG

I submit that the old "bite the bullet" saying was just that, a saying. Take a Minie ball or a round ball and put it in your mouth and try to chew it. Good luck not breaking a tooth.
Yes duggap the bite the bullet bit during civil war surgery is probably way overplayed. Lead after impact takes on strange shapes that get blamed on human teeth marks when it's obviously not the case. I have ,however, seen old lead that without a doubt had teeth marks most likely from an animal chewing on it. And flattened out lead isn't that hard. There is a study out there somewhere on the internets that "proved" some of the lead with purported human teeth marks were in fact human teeth marks. I'm sure someone can find it.
