Started out the day very slow hiking miles of an old property looking for a suspected old home site according to the property owner. Not a thing was found in the targeted area so we headed back to another spot of high ground. We immediately came over a large area loaded with iron and eventually some old foundation stones and a small brick pile. Bingo we had found an old homesite. After an hour or so of digging I came onto this pistol inside the footprint of the old home. Left hidden in the floorboards and forgotten maybe? Either way I’m thrilled to have found it!

Nice find, never found a full firearm.

A little wd40, maybe some aerokroil and a toothbrush (and a cylinder, trigger, firing pin, handle, etc) and you’ll be ready to head to the range in no time.

I’ll be going back Sunday to do a deep search for any other parts.

I have found two Colt pocket revolvers and they were both missing the steel barrel and chamber part. Very nice that yours had the barrel. If you do return to look for the rest, it will sound like a junk piece of iron but would be worth the effort. Nice find!

Yes indeed. I’ll be bringing a sifter with me on my return too just to be safe.
