it was a long walk, 20 miles-ish, no water to be found. carried in almost 4 gallons, ran out on day 6 and still a few miles from the truck. but had water there waiting.. ate spam singles and peanut butter and ramen noodles. saw 2 tarantulas 1 scorpion 1 coati. fell 2 miles short of my destination and they are a very tough 2 miles. will make a new plan and try again. hope you like the pics

Sounds like a plan, Jeremy
Thanks. . . Russ

Excellent pics! One thing about the fire, it sure cleaned a lot of that land up didn't it. if anything's to be found this is the season! I hope a bunch of invasive species don't come in. I can't believe how clean a lot of the desert is. It's a veritable clean slate and will be awesome this spring!

I wish I could wait until spring. lol. I am rather impulsive, I think im gonna head back down in a few days maybe a week. 1 small job to do, then free for a couple weeks. 1 more time before real winter sets in at my home. My wife laughed when I said I was heading back. she said " go do it, so I don't have to hear about it all winter" . I said "awesome. then I can tell you about it all winter".. she laughed again. so I think im gonna try to make it back down. hopefully the rain forecast will put some water in the creeks. I think it will be pretty cold at night. prepare for the worst I guess..

Hell we are going in late December. Just be prepared and you'll be fine man!

this was in march 2020, not as dry. all waterways had water to filter from. the weather was good. heavy winds at night. managed to summit white mountain. it was brutal. and I am still having problems with my leg. pushed a little too hard. will get more pictures loaded soon. No Gold.. lol.20200305_094739.jpgGOPR0026.JPGGOPR0029.JPG20200305_094724.jpg

Jeremy,
Great pics! Water too, that definitely helps lighten the load.
Look toward to a story or two. :) :icon_thumright:

(bummer about your leg, hope it's not permanent)

hi russ. it was a very good trip. the rains over the winter sure made a mess out there. huge mudslides happened and alluvial blow outs. it was hard to find the trail again sometimes. I seemed to have strained some mussels in my calf. of course it had to happen when I was furthest in. which made my exit hike a real pain . literally.. the road was pretty muddy in a spot or two, thought I was getting the rental truck stuck for sure. but we made it.. good trip overall. found a small cliff dwelling site way up high. amazing anyone would ever live up there. looking forward to getting back again. seems like I will never get enough of it. my buddy said this morning. " I cant stop thinking about getting back up there. " lol, me either. lots of crystals and some blue quartz. pretty stuff for sure. there is a huge patch of geodes laying right on the surface. very interesting for sure. just such a pain to get up there.
