lOCATED A NEW SHIPWRECK NOW WHAT?

Like I said NO ONE has any idea what I MAY be dealing with here.

Fair enough. No one knows your specifics. Each project is different. But you came to this forum to share ideas and that is what people are doing. Allow them to do so without sharp comebacks and you'll find a group very willing to help you...even if you choose to disagree with certain advice. We are rooting for you. :D

Best,

Gentleman I wish to thank each and everyone for their advice and it has been well taken believe me.
I do not wish to argue with anyone concerning this project or anyother project that I may come across in the future.
I asked for advice and was given guidelines to follow for the best results.
You are correct in saying that I do not know what this wreck consist of or even its date or what it might be carrying but I do have a pretty good idea never the less.
Time will tell.
Thanks

You really need to read ALL my posting on this matter as they were posted. They explain everything that I said but do not take them out of context.

I agree with Diving Doc and all others ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I have posted everything I received as I received it. I will agree that I have said way to much but I was searching for some answers and was really trying to do the Right and Legal thing.
Have no fear I will take a break and figure things out the best way I can.
Later-much later

Was a short break ::).
This Project is NOT over by a long shot and is in fact just getting started in earnest.

I was not aware that I kept changing my story.

I have a question:
WHAT IS AN ARTIFACT?
The reason that I ask is because in 2004 the State of Florida changed its IFP (Isolated Finds Program) and did in fact do away with this program all together-to a point.

Salvor 6 provided a sonar scan and yet NOT A SINGLE PERSON was really able to tell what was there. I even provided additional information and still NO ONE was able to see anything. I think that the problem is because everyone is use to seeing clear items laying on the ocean bottom and they are looking with their eyes closed.
In the sonar scan there is something showing that PROVES to me that this IS wreck. It is the 2 little Ox Yoke objects that appear in white that are about 1 5/8" to the left of the center line and 1/2" up from the bottom of the scan.
If anyone wants to take a look then YOU tell me what you see.
Cornelius:
In order to get a PERMIT and in order to do this you must must provide some kind of proff that something does exist and this can only be done by diving the site. I know nothing about Tides but I have researched Hurricanes back to when they were first recorded. I have also researched Ship designs from the Nina to the late 1800's. I will agree that you are better qualified that I am in this field of research and no doubt have discovered many shipwrecks-this goes for Diving Doc as well which I feel is the best on this forum.
Anyway,
Yes I am a beginner in this type of venture. I am really a Propsector but I was presented with this Project and had good feeling about it from the start. I must follow my feelings.
Have a great day everyone.

PegLeg,

Salvor 6 provided a sonar scan and yet NOT A SINGLE PERSON was really able to tell what was there. I even provided additional information and still NO ONE was able to see anything. I think that the problem is because everyone is use to seeing clear items laying on the ocean bottom and they are looking with their eyes closed.
You must understand, I provided you with a great example, in my scan of what I thought was a canon, as to why you cannot say for sure there is a shipwreck there. These images provide no conclusive data, but granted, there are some interesting anomaly's there that need to be verified. One way to do this is by approaching this scientifically and doing a serious magnetometer or sub-bottom profiling survey. The other, tried and true method is to get in the water and see what you can find.

THE SIDESCANS YOU PROVIDED ARE ABSOLUTELY INCONCLUSIVE! THERE IS NOTHING IN THAT IMAGE THAT IS REMOTELY DISTINGISHABLE!(other than the crab pot)

In the sonar scan there is something showing that PROVES to me that this IS wreck. It is the 2 little Ox Yoke objects that appear in white that are about 1 5/8" to the left of the center line and 1/2" up from the bottom of the scan.
How can you say from these images you definitely have a wreck? If you understand how sidescan works you can see there are no hard returns with shadows (like the crab pot) that distinguish an object like a canon or ships timber even. What you could be seeing is a combination of sand and mud reflecting back stronger and weaker echos. I am not saying there is not a wreck there, but I am saying that you cannot say there is a wreck just from these images.

Good Luck and Hope you find something. No one here is trying to discourage you, we are just trying to be realistic and not jumping the gun. If I had a nickel for every sidscan image I thought was an old wreck ............!

As for an artifact and what you can recover, according to the state of Florida, an artifact is any object (article, building, container, device, dwelling, ornament, pottery, tool, weapon, work of art) made, affected, used, or modified in some way by human beings and being 50 years or older.

Best of luck, go get in the water and see whats there!

I am planning to do just that (getting in the water) even with only one leg I will goto the MAX.
And I do want to give many thanks to everyone for their advice.
Its kind of funny that no one has commented on what they think the 2 objects are that are located near the bottom of the scan :o :-\

hi peg ,
i think you are on the right track, your conviction is worthy of battle for freedom, but your lack of patience has been shown, you have the world to show if your are right, and your strengths and perseverance will guide some of us forever. do not close this chapter just yet as Ive heard the sun will come up tomorrow, and will bring news unheard. ;)
