M-6, pro pointer, pistol probe
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
The plan was to detect both Sat. & Sun....nope!
Ok, Sunday. Rain is due in at 8 am., i'm out the door by 6. Change of search area also, instead of the sports field i hit the little hill on the side. I spotted mowed trash and thought "coin spills", yep, several. One had 5 nickels & 2 dimes.
Next signal is a solid sounding slightly bouncy "screw cap" reading. The little voice says "you should dig that". I figure "ok, i haven't dug my trash quota yet". From 3" down what looks like the broken edge of a screw cap appears in the dirt pile. I pick it up & turn it over...ring! (surprise!)
Silver with amethyst stone & gold accents. Can't make out the markings inside the band (old or foreign?).
Next is a quarter reading that disappears after a few svoops of dirt. Check all the dirt, nope! Check the only other thing that came out of the hole, a large piece of glass...yep! Surprise! It has wire in it.
Another quarter reading turns up what looks like a green plastic poker chip...its metal...at lest thats what the detector says.
Round thing with stones is snap part maybe.

Rain starts, time to leave. I ask for a final surprise. At the edge of the parking lot, right next to the truck i get another quarter reading....a bullet!!! I was surprised!!!

WHADIFIND's dime on the pin pointer tip, works well!

Hope everyones day is filled with surprises...the good kind!

I hope the pic attachment worked it was a little weird.
Maybe one of you can make out the marks inside the band, i can't figure them out.

Nice digs! In and out before the rain starts. Good show. What's the dime/pinpointer tip??

Thanks!
I have a Garrett pin pointer, to get more depth you hold a dime to the side of it and slowly slide the dime down to the tip then back up and stop when it stops beeping. Gets you an inch or more of extra depth.

WHADIFIND explaines it better in his post; "Pa. is always kind to me."
Its in post # 14. dated 6/3/2016 at the bottom.

Nice ring Msbeepbeep.....:icon_thumright:

Thank you!
I'm going to stare at it for a while then test it. :D
Pretty sure its silver, but it seems to have gold accents. Not sure of its age either, could be modern, :what:

I can't make out the markings either. Looks silver though. Wouldn't hurt to take it to a jeweler to find out. Nice digs.

Thanks!
I can try to get a better pic of it. I'm pretty sure its silver. I have a test kit, but i just want to stare at it a while longer while all options are open to my wild imagination.:D

Can't make out the marks, but nice ring. Is that a poker chip?

Yes that is a poker chip. Thought it was plastic when i first flipped it out of the hole, but the detector said metal.

I will try to get a better pic of the ring hallmarks, my ph isn't great at taking close up pics.

If it is a real casino chip, I think the green ones are usually $25.00. You might have found more that you thought!

That's a beautiful ring. Wonder why the poker chip sounded off? Do they put some kind of metal in them?

Nice ring Msbeepbeep, congrats on all your finds!!

That would be something!
Most valuable token i have found!

Tommy G. Says it maybe a real casino chip! That would make it my most valuable chip yet!

I wondered myself why the detector sounded off over it, then the pin pointer agreed with it so i was out numbered and had to concede to the two of them!

Nice ring Msbeepbeep, congrats on all your finds!!

Thank you!
I'm hoping the ring is old, still trying to get better pics...electronics don't like me!

Dime on the pinpointer tip?

Great finds! Love ring finds. :)

Thank you! It is real pretty even with a broken band.

No, not on the tip.
Place the dime at the battery end and slowly slide it down to the tip, then back towards the battery end ,but stop when the pin pointer stops beeping. You will have more depth of detection than normal on it. I think WHADIFIND said 1"-3" more depth.
I was having fun with it Sunday.
I found a very large "something" ...too big to recover...maybe part of the sprinkler system! :sly::eek::D

Nice ring MBB!

Glad to see that you got out, and scored some shiny stuff. Well done.

Looks like a fine day to me! A pretty ring like that doesn't come out very often. Looks old.

My tip? Well, if you use it like I do, (with it taped inside my glove), just don't forget it's there. It sounds off
really well when waved under the coil with a handful of dirt. ;)

I'd like to hear more about this myself. It wasn't from WHADIFIND, but a couple years ago there was a post about attaching a small piece of metal to the pro pointer just past where it would start to beep, and that would increase the depth of detection. I've tried that in the field a couple of times and it did work for added depth. I'd be at a target, get no indication from the pro pointer, and take my digging tool and clasp it to the pro pointer just above the point of indication, and then the PP would sense the target.

I haven't tried that with my new Carrot yet.

Oh heckfire! It is "MY" tip, I might've been the latest to mention it is all.
BTB I learned it *here*. :)

All I did was adapt that to taping a coin to my thumb for ease of use.

Thank you!

Do you have a jewelry loupe? I often put the loupe up to my phone camera and get really close to the object. Works pretty well.

Thank you Tom!
It almost didn't happen, but the rain held off till later Sunday morn. I still have the feeling there is a lot more good stuff and bling there. Old site, but alot of metal stuff in the ground. Requires alot of patience. :)
