Limited finds, but they're old

Tried a couple fields but the one I was most interested in was a little long, so went back to the two we did last week. Most of my targets (at least the more interesting ones) date mid 1700s, and we were lucky as our friend the Patriot was nice enough to walk right by a good part of the site and stay in his one little spot. You're not that good yet... maybe in the range of the PA bros. :laughing7:

Better finds were the little green Jesus, French bale seals, and George II copper all dating about 1740s or 50s. I don't have any peroxide so the cleaned pics won't be until at least tomorrow. Not as good as last time but certainly enough targets to have a chance.

I would be more than happy if you could walk over all mine. I find them just a drag making you think you got a good solid target, maybe a coin, and ends up being a musketball. Yesterday I was using headphones I was not used to so every hole I was even more hopeful it was a coin hit, but nope, just another ball.

Nice finds IP :icon_thumright: In a way the finds made by your team is yours too

I was mulling upgrade/change of detector used, however issues like you point out like change of headphones makes me hesitate :D

I wish they were mine too!!! I would have had a good chunk of reale from that site.

I've used the same detector and phones for a long time, and haven't changed my settings in about 7 years. Any little change is a big change to me. I got by ok with the different phones but it made me guess a little more what was in the dirt. Changing detectors.... now that's a nightmare!

Nightmare is well put. What made you change headphones? I just started back up detecting earlier this year after years break. I know I would have serious adjustments to make for an upgrade let alone change of brand

Still looking for my first reale :D

I was down to 2 cords on my Gray Ghost NDTs and both went. I never suspected both would go and figured I could wait until Winter to get the others fixed. (The first two cords lasted years) Imagine... 2 GG phones and 4 cords and I'm borrowing cheap old beat up phones. (but it was better than having to buy a set for the day)

Was no big deal, still got out and felt good.

A reale would be cool but I have a want list with many things ranked ahead of Spanish silver. Of course that's partially because I have dug my share of reales.

Nice GII IP. How did you train the lizard to hold these relics while you took the pic? Lizard needs moisturizer. :laughing7:

It took about a month, and then another week for him to keep that middle finger out a little more just for you. ;D

You did very well IP, good thing Patriot walked right by the sweet spot, maybe he did it out of sympathy for you!. I really like the little Jesus figure, another neat relic for the collection........and probably one you don't have yet. The GEO II copper is amazing, is it a counterfeit?. I always thought the counterfeits were made to look a bit worn, yours appears to have very little wear.

Basically what he did was walk through the first 3/4 of the site and stay on the last 1/4. Unfortunately the site didn't give up near the amount of targets or number of quailty finds our past early French sites have. The copper doesn't look counterfeit, and even if it is, it's so close to the regal issue it wouldn't really be interesting. So just a George II Halfpenny.

Hey now... it's not like those fields were small....how many football fields could you fit in there IP...I was confused with the 2 spanish I pulled out, mixed feelings where to hunt...

You think you had mixed feelings! I was happy where I was, then you find those two coins away from the main site. The way it's looking now is early French cabins stretched right across the bottom of both fields. I'm thinking they weren't there for too many years, at least not as many as the other sites we have detected. If they were that area really would have been loaded.

Re: Limited finds, but they're old

Well, I agree with Cru, the button is the best relic find, another new design have not seen before. I would assume the KGII is Regal, based on how well it did in your soil, and most of them are regal anyway. Congrats on another seal and my NDT's have been pretty darn good on my latest cords, but I did double over the wire coming out of the plug at the headphones, since it seems that is the area they go bad at, especially with me in the thick brush and always switching swingin arms. It is ashame the connector in that plug is something unusual, otherwise I would fix them myself. However NDT's and Explorers = Perfect sound together, to use another pair is an experience in seeing differences in sound quality.......

No way... Acadian marked bale seals and a little green Jesus from about 1740/50 beat a random Brit. dandy button every day of the week and twice on hunt day!

I wonder if the local electronics guy can fix the cords. I had just assumed he probably could.

Re: Limited finds, but they're old

Cleaned pics... A little more of the grit to come off the coin but I'll save that for winter.
