Lets try to put ourselfs in the outlaws footsteps back in the day!!??

I was thinking that maybe we could all put our heads together and try to research out one of these lesser known robberies. Kinda like a T-Net treasure hunt. What do you guys think?? Anybody have a good one that we could try to find? One that doesn't already have 766,298,094,111 people looking for it??

That would be great, but the problem is, most of us are looking for that kind of story. When we find that kind of story, we don't usually post it for everyone to read. Unless it's a lead that's 1000 miles from where you live. But if anyone wants to put up a lead, I'll play.

I'm in too.
Let's work together on a lead, If someone has one to offer.

I'll take a piece of that. I can lend my archaeological services to any venture.

Ok fellas, where do we begin? Who knows of something? I will say this,I have a couple of them, that I have been digging into for awhile and some theories behind them. One is in Alabama and one in Missouri.I'm from Florida, In Missouri for a lil while working, and been know to go where something is suppose to be.. :laughing7:
so lets try and do this.... :coffee2:

Don't think I can help hunt for this one. But I'm willing to share my database.

I believe I know your lead in Missouri...It took me three years of searching and following and interpreting clues...but I finally found an empty vault...The cache was KGC related and a local used to say that from his porch that he could see where "more gold was that one man could not spend in a lifetime"....dont take my word for it though. Happy hunting...Steve

Steve, I've seen that saying a time or two.....
The one I'm talking about though has nothing to do with that one about the older fella and the creek or mountainside..

Tuberale dont count ya self out just yet, might be someone in your area, heck, it ain't got to be in any particular area, as long as everyone is honest about everything from the get go.. :headbang:

I don't think the Dalton's died in a spur of the moment thing, zerojinx, and the James Boys didn't decide on a whim to take on two banks in Minnesota. The banks were in towns; and fences were up to keep the livestock out, and fences did cause a few problems for fleeing robbers. The best planners, who usually rode horses far better than what a posse could rustle up, would stash fresh mounts, make sure the escape route was clear, (and the most critical part of a clean getaway is the first mile), but usually the whole thing would go haywire as the result of an alert citizen. If you got it, or can find it, 'Tough Towns' by Robert Barr Smith is a good book to check out. There's many other books, but this guy takes an objective view and tries to separate fact from fiction.

Mr Jody...Good luck to you...I had a wonderful time getting to the bottom of this lead...with no idea of it ever being being KGC related when I started....but the deeper I dug the more the pieces fell into place....If you are ever in the Springfield area give me a holler and maybe we can hook up.... I dont need much of an excuse to get out in the great outdoors....Merry Christmas....Steve

Perhaps we should all try to come up with our own favorite lead and post a short story about it along with some of the research material that we have found. After everybody has posted a lead we can start a poll and whatever lead wins is the one we will go for.
Now how about some ground rules??
Who gets the cache?
What about the loose lips thing. You know big brother is watching us right now..
May just have to deal with the IRS a little on this one?
Maybe not even do this for the money but rather just for the fun and whatever is recovered could be donated?

good afternoon ya bunch of citified guys: Simonds will know exactly what I am saying. In those days travel was done exclusively by horse power. 'Every' home had a corral.

All that they had to do for a quick hide, was to simply scrape the usual ground covering to one side, then bury the 'what ever' in long shallow trenches, scrape the orig covering back, then run the animals around the corral a few times and there would be absolutely no evidence of having buried anything.

Quick and easy, could even just scatter the coins without actually digging, just recover them. The same goes for a barn.

Obvious no? If not, ask Simonds, he can fill you in. Me, I am just a Mule pusher.

Sounds fair enough to me!!

I guess sense I brought it up Ill start with this one. Now this is one that I have just started looking into and really don't know if there is anything to be found but its an interesting story none the less and deserves a little more research. This is about a stage robbery that took place in Pleasant Valley Idaho. I have no information as to the whereabouts of the gold that was taken. Just this stuff so far.

These two links are both the same basic story covered by two different newspapers

This is just another google query that came up. It may not even be related I haven't read through it all yet.

This is a great website that I have acquired most of my information from thus far.

Anybody else ever heard of this robbery? Anybody care to do a little more diggin?? :dontknow:

Never heard of that one Sportin, but I got some time on my hands, see what we can do for you!! :coffee2:

Those were some pretty hefty dollar amounts for passengers to be carrying.

Very illuminating indeed :)

Actually, seen some "reports" way bigger than that amount on other "hold ups"... :-\
