By the way no where in the Constitution did our forefathers ever say we had a god given right to drink alcohol, that was brought on by liberals once again wanting to tell other people what they can and can't do in their desire to control people.
I would hate for them to say based on today's reality all the super rich aren't making enough money so were just going to have to enslave all of you people. See the problem with interpretation is anyone can spin it to benefit them.

The thing I'm worried is the next generation, I'm sure civics 101 is a thing of the past. The powers to be have set a agenda to keep everyone to busy worrying about how to survive the next day. The 2nd will become a nonsense issue. And maybe more. All under the guise it's old school. If anything a line will be added that most things in life can be free just allow us(?) to show you how. The word interpretation will be changed to (I'll tell you what it means)
Beyond that we are slowly being infiltrated by a mass of people that could care less about our ideals. Just take care of me attitude is going to be the new norm.
Onfire - all very valid concerns. The only solace I can give you is the fact that EVERY generation goes through the same angst. The depression generation couldn't believe how selfish those who followed were. Everyone was freaked out when the kids started listening to that evil rock and roll in the 50s. God help us in the hippie era. The 70s was a waste land. A world of yuppies in the 80s etc.
Every generation as it ages thinks no one young gets it and it was always better in the good old days. Not calling you or anyone else a "grumpy old man" but this is completely natural. We all think the time we live in is an extra special time of change and is very different than any other time. The good news is that this is not the case and life goes on and those spoiled school age kids rise to the occasion and become productive adults.
If this country survived the hippies and then disco we can survive anything!!
Was that directed at you? I don't remember naming anyone specific. I never said it can't be changed, I said it is a rock this country is built on. What did I make just Fine for you? Prohibition.....How did that work out? Not good results.

Words themselves are expressions of thought. Everything written must be interpreted to gain the original essence behind the thought. That is why something written in one language can mean something different when translated. The written word is influenced heavily by the norms of society at the time. Technology, culture, arts, even region of states or countries. So to say that the constitution does not need to be interpreted is just silly. If you go back and try to read some of the literature and legal language of 1790 then you might have a tough time doing so. It is because you are unfamiliar with the words...you don't exactly what they meant at the time.
The founding fathers searched for and encased an idealism in the constitution. Looking at the constitution through reduction defeats the holistic meaning of it. Each part of the constitution does not stand on its own. The whole of the constitution is MORE then the sum of its parts. The Idealism behind the constitution is a ROCK. The original intentions of the founding fathers can never be altered.
This idealism cannot be interpreted. It is lost to us. We can read what was left behind but we will never know the TRUE meaning and intent of the founding fathers. Try as we might, none of us can truly understand what they went through at the time and what they meant. We can come up with a pretty good idea and then interpret and apply it.
Rebel and I are working on communicating with each other through mental wavelengths produced from the pineal gland. Once we achieve this, we will no longer need to interpret each other's words. Until then, all communication, words, gestures, etc... need interpretation.

Is this heliotropism, egocentrism, or sociologic interpretation?
Respectfully,
Crispin
See post 43: The idealism is a rock. The constitution itself is a piece of paper locked in a vault; away from where others can alter it. Society is a living breathing organism. No man is an island. We all live, breath, and interact together. The constitution is just one facet of our society and interactions. Its true meaning will never change; however, the application of its words has changed and will continue to change throughout time. Failure to do this would lock our society into the current mindset. Technology would have to stop advancing. Understanding of science would have to be reduced to no further investigation. Arts and cultures could not evolve and must stick to current paradigms.
No, the application of the constitution HAS to live, breath, evolve, and change; if it did not, it would be a failure. The idealism and spirit of the constitution is a rock carved from granite. It is truly the bedrock of our law and society...a law and society that is constantly changing and evolving.
