Is there a misunderstanding with a few explorer users?

Hi Greg

The real issue with any brand is the skill of the operator!!!!

If an operator hasn't gained all the knowledge for using his particular machine he will never realise its full potential!!!

However if someone experienced changes machine & immediately starts getting better results finding deeper, older, or silver on the same patch then maybe the new machine is better in that situation.

I do own an explorerII, but would never presume to put down any other machine in the hands of experienced users (can't say the same for some detecting techniques I see in the field with all brands!).

If someone doesn't want to look for really deep old things and just likes coinshooting for quick cash then there are plenty of great units for a couple of hundred bucks in most brands.

cheers for now

Thanks I think that is a good idea, this is across all forums and not forum specific here. Just when people ask for help with their detector I don't think the answer sell it and buy an explorer is what they were asking for. Or some of the other responses......I think someone even saying their detector is great is not the problem, it is just when someone new asks for help with their detector and right away the explorer users (not all) I think I did say a few, start advising them to sell their detector and buy an explorer....not sure everyone wants an explorer!

I do not agree with running down anyones choice
of detectors.

DFX-Gregg, I don't know how old you are, but I'll offer some advise that might add a few years to your life. Stop letting all the petty crap bother you. The last 2 posts I've read of yours were about some not believing your finds and now this. Life's way to short to waste your time dwelling on what other people think about you or your metal detector. If you can look yourself in the mirror and see a decent person, that's all that should matter. Some time ago, someone was giving me crap about something, a friend asked me later why I didn't seem bothered by it. I replied ....."I don't listen to a$$^#@!s" Live your own life and stop worrying about how others live theirs...PS : Feel free not to listen to me either...All the best to you regardless.

My issue with this whole thing is the only people I ever see pulling this routine is a group of explorer users. Oh and I did post my finds today :D

I've noticed what you say Gregg many times but then we post on several of the same forums. As you know I no longer use Fisher/Minelab or Whites twin/multifrequency on land because I can do better with other machines though you need several to replace either a DFX or an Explorer.
I find the Minelab in general a little deeper but in most respects the DFX is better if full use is made of the adjustments available. At the end of a long days detecting its normally the Explorer user who has either packed up or who's sweep is all over the place so the small depth advantage he started with is lost.

erikk,

Dude you have more detectors than some dealers I know. I am truly jealous.

Ed D.
Different machines for different jobs. Not one will do it all as I have found out through over 40 years of swinging. Those are the ones that I have found work best for me. The new Fisher F-75 is a coin killer in junk/tab infested ground. I was pulling dimes yesterday in ground so saturated with tabs that it was impossible to go to pinpoint (all metal) because of the trash. The jury is still out on this one as I have only had it a week but it looks like a keeper.

I'm glad someone else noticed it, I thought it was just me.

The gloating and sneering is the main reason that I only recently registered but still mainly lurk. It's rude and extremely off-putting to anyone new to the hobby or this board.

Well.... If you had an Explorer you wouldn't have that problem, now would you? ;D

raif ;

I can see a little bit of Brand Loyalty comments on posts.
debating what detector a person should purchase
if asked. after all it helps answering the question.

but if the post is started to discuss a specific brand,
and someone jumps in,
I not only would Consider it Rude, But worthy
of being Reported to the Mods.

Personally, I'm a little offended my the title of this,
blaming it all on Explorer users. However,
since I don't know if only explorer users are doing this
I'v let it stand.

However maybe it should be changed to
"Brand Loyal Users" ;)

Well first of all we need to stop acting like we are ten years old!!!!some people like certain detectors and some people dont.So if some one runs down your detector..try this....IGNORE THEM!!!
I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT AGREE WITH DELETING A POST JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE RUNS DOWN A CERTAIN BRAND OF DETECTOR....if you look further down you will see that some one has run down the Explorer..
I agree with several post here..learn your detector and learn from the people that answer your questions..the rest of the people that try and say buy a better detector just think they know it all.
And guess what i use an explorer and an explorer 2 and i think they are great machines...i have had people ask a about help with other detectors including DFX's,and what i did was refer them to someone in our club who uses there kind of detector.
So hunt with what makes you happy and ignore the school kids who have to be better than everyone else!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY HUNTING AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU NO MATTER WHAT MACHINE IS BEING USED.

I always say, "It's not the arrow, It's the Indian." If you get familiar with your detector, it is probably the best because you know how to use it. I purchased an Excalibur 1000 and hated it for the first few outings. Now I would not give it up for anything. Does that make it the best detector? For me yes, others probably not.

The people that post negative responses to others detectors were probably the ones that said, "My dad can beat up your dad," when they were younger.

PS Your mother wears combat boots.

Yep! I've noticed it. I commented on it to one of them and it went right over his head! It seems as if this person used the work minelab in ever sentence. It got boring after a while so I tuned it out. Monty

I took it upon myself to purchase a detector that neither the Whites nor Minelab owners like so they can unite in shunning me. ;) Just my contribution to universal harmony.

It ain't the brand of yer wand but the magic you coax out of it. Know your tool and play to it's strengths. Now grab yer tools and stop fighting! Somebody help the Compass users find the doorknob - it's metal.

And Budweiser isn't even a real beer!

Hey Charlie, I like the F-75 and I have 4 Minelabs and 2 other Fishers. Just getting to know the F-75 but so far it is a keeper

Don't get me wrong, I think Minelab is a great machine as is White's, Garrets, Fisher, and all the others and yes , even Bounty Hunter. They all have their pluses and minuses and which ever you choose depends on your need at the time of purchase and what you can afford. Just don't knock the guy who has to make do with a Ford or Chevy when you can drive a Caddy or a Rolls Royce. That's my point. Monty
