Is the Pit Mine really the Lost Dutchman mine?

Mike,
Does the book say anything about the attack, and the Peraltas being angry with the Gonzalezs?

nobodie,

No doubt Mike would answer, but I have the information in front of me. In an interview with Jesus Peralta, the story of the massacre begins on the bottom of page 21. The problem with the story, is that the Peralta family he talks about lived in Santa Fe, NM

Good luck,

Joe Ribaudo

Whent through my stack of books and junk, I found Kenwortys book and Lost Eldorado of Jacob Waltz by Jack San Felice. Copyright and first Printing 2008. Is this the same Jack San Felice book everyone is talking about or is therer a newer one. If it's not the same, how much different is it. Will read them in the morning. Will see what it says about he pit mine.

nobodie,

It's new and had additional information in it.

Good luck,

Will.try to buy the new book soon. Just skimmed through the 2008 version of the book on the pit. The 3 rocks above the pit is not a good clue, the real clue was changed by Jim Bark in his notes. Thomas said that Walt's put the frying pan with the hole in it on the center peak with FOUR rocks the mine is below the peak. Bark not understanding 4 rocks as center, believed what was meant, there are 3 rocks and the middle rock had the pan. The clue is there are 3 peaks, the center one has FOUR rocks on it, that is were the pan was on the center with 4 rocks. Bark threw in his opinion and
changed the clue. To many times people have changed the clues with their opinions. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Before I can say any more I have to READ the new version and compare it with the old .one.

nobodie,

How do you know what Bark changed?:dontknow: For that matter, how do you know what he understood?

Good luck,

Is there any place I can get a copy Barks notes ? I used to go to the A.Z. room at the Phx. main public library and read it there. The last time that I went to the library they couldn't find it, either misplaced or stolen. Trying to find other books that I have that may quote Barks notes about that situation.

nobodie,

Can't find where Bark made any such statement in his manuscript. Believe you are mistaken.

Good luck,

I was so sure that it was Barks notes, he was talking about when weiser (probably misspelled) was fond dead or missing when Waltz got back late with supplies and where he put the pan with bullet/pick hole in it. Now this is going to eat me up, I'm tearing through my house again looking through all the books I can find. I'm P. Off, I can't find my copy of Thomas Glover part 1. No sleep tonight. I'm sorry if I miss quoted but I was so sure now I have to go find the notes. Joe not that I don't believe you but I need to read it myself, then try to figure out what happened.

Old,
Can I buy a copy from them?

I think its self serve copying from the files.

Here's what the Library web site says about copying.

Photocopying

There are self service photocopiers located throughout all the libraries on campus. In general there is usually at least one on each floor of the library. There is a charge of $0.12 per side for black and white copies. The following libraries offer color copying at $0.50 per side:
•Downtown Phoenix campus Library
•Hayden, Noble, Design, Music (Tempe campus)

Scanning

Scanners are located in Hayden, Noble, Music, and Design libraries on the Tempe campus. There is a charge of $0.02 per page to scan (color or black and white) and the files can be sent to e-mail.

Microform Printing and Scanning

Microform printing is currently available on Microform reader/printers. Some libraries have microform scanning stations. There is no charge to scan items to the three options available on the scanners: e-mail, flash drive, or MyFiles. (MyFiles available to ASU affiliates only.)

Old,
I'm computer illiterate. I'm a lost cause when it comes to computers, I can get sick using one. I've been told that a computer and me is like putting a toaster in a tub filled with water. I have never scanned anything or e-mailed either, what you said went over my head. I'll find a copy of the notes and copy the old way. Thank you for your time and trying to helpm.

nobodie,

Bark didn't change anything. He gave us the story as it was given to him by Julia and Rhiney. What he said was, he had doubts about what they told him, and gave his reasons for having those doubts.

I have a number of versions of the Bark Notes, so that doesn't change in any of them.

Good luck,

Joe Ribaudo

Maybe I missed remembered, it has been along time since I read it. But I still can't find my Glover part 1 book, May have to buy another one, good book, one of the few books that I think is good.

Hi NB,

I gave you the wrong call name. I gave you Bark. Actually it is Sims, Ely series.

The full call name is:

Sims Ely Papers 1872-1970 (bulk 1890s-1954)
MSS-361 as the right name for the collection of material.

Then .........Series I, Box 2 folders 4, 5, 6, & 7.

This is to the original stuff, not copies. Although, I'm told there were multiple copies of the original stuff........makes it all the more complicated.

Most libraries have very helpful staff. If you go there and tell them what you are looking for they pull it from storage and bring it to a reading room for you. I'd be willing to bet they would show you how to copy also. If you make the trip I think it would be worth your while. There are several interesting documents in that same box. Don't be limited to just folder 4-7. Folder 3 sounds like a real gem too!

If you want to get a good idea of what went on with a lot of the LDM issues you need to read Jacobs Trail by Jesse Feldman.
