So having found an 1863 Gold Queen Victoria sovereign on Thursday afternoon, I dont like going straight back to a permission ive had good luck on as the return visits always turn out to be duds, and so I headed off to a different location here in Lancashire England some 12 miles away and with good Roman form.
I was finding lots of stuff on a pasture field close to a river, a couple of spindle whorls, buttons, buckles, crusty old coins, a couple of musket balls. I was really enjoying the session, a busy field but not one to be bored in.
As th3 light began to fade I dug a clear signal at 3 bars down on the equinox, lifted up the clod and just sat there in the hole was this 1821 George IV sovereign.

I think I'm still in shock to be fair. 2 gold coins from 2 outings in one week at different locales.
The.metal detecting God's are obviously smiling down on me right now.
What an incredible hobby this is.

Incredible! That has to be some kind of detecting world record. BANNER worthy all the way. Big Congrats!!!!!

Waiting for tomorrow to see if you make it three
Id be reluctant to say if I did, I reckon id be a suspected attention seeker troll with another.
But it isn't for a lack of trying though 😂
Its a fantastic area though, best permission ive ever been to and the beauty is im onky on the pasture right now, by October the ploughed land will be freed up. I cannot wait.
I've been back now twice since Sunday and have just been finding coin after coin, mainly early late 19th early 20th century 5 silvers though including 3 hammered. One I just found tonight havent taken a pic yet but its not great, Elizabeth I though I'm pretty certain so the later half of the 16th century.
Hunting around the golden spot I found a decent sized James I sixpence (1604) a big fat but a bit worse for wear George V half crown a tiny but good condition George V 3 pence a tiny hammered rose and crown James I half groat.
I found an old hammered copper jetton but it's badly worn and is currently in ketchup, intonan photo of it with the rose and crown but it's ineligible.
