If it's real it will be my best find yet

Went out and hit the wet sand today and found there was a few swingers in the cuts so i decided to walk way down the beach away from everyone, I'm sure glad i did after about an hour i found a crematory tag. I said a little pray and sent it out to the depths. as i was turning around i got a beep and dug the silver ring. the hair went up on my neck with a couple goose bumps. i looked out to the water and asked if i could find something better with gold, haha 20 minutes later i found this Rolex watch, The hair really stood up then chills even. I gave it a shake and the second hand started to move, and the watch had a lot of encrusting on the stainless and some on the crystal. A little work took most of it off. After talking to a friend on here that has some knowledge about these i sent him a few pictures and described and answered all the questions i could. He then said everything sounds like its the real deal but you still have to take it to the Jewelers just to make sure. If it is i think ill have it repaired, I always wanted one so now maybe i have one.......I'll post tomorrow if its real thanks for looking
Kent
UPDATE;; After bringing the watch to the jewelers i'm happy to say that it came back as a real ROLEX now to have it repaiered will be $500-$700 :)

vales on used ones are around $5400

I was just coming to say the same thing.... you're looking at at least 5k if you put the money into it. I would probably do the service, and then maybe get the bracelet later on just so it wouldn't seem like so much money. The watch will probably hold the value so it will be money well spent, not to mention it will last your lifetime if you take care of it.

I have my thoughts on it. You don't know that I'm not down the homeless shelter:thumbsup: I think you have one on each wrist. Good luck to you, I prefer to tell the time by anything that works, & not anything thats the most expensive. Crack on, each to their own.

I bet you have all those homeless people digging your targets.

I also have a watch on each ankle. :) (I do own 6 of them) 8-) :occasion14:

I knew it.

Its your issue, glad its not mine.

You seem to miss the point, I dig the homeless peoples targets for free. You let them starve... lol

You'd laugh even more if you knew what my watches are worth compared to what's in my cupboard to eat. :laughing3:

Dang yall , costing way to much to service it ,Id slap it up on ebay ,save the $ or buy something else I want. p.s. All the wrist watches I have I found at a local lake where people jump off a high cliff . I have many G Shocks ,a few decent Fossil brands and my pride and joy the 500$ Seiko & all were free . I have lost to many nice watches over the years to invest in any more + cell phones are the new time piece's ...

The return on servicing it will be money well spent i pay maybe 2300 and get back 5400 sounds like good math to me as is i might get 700

Congrats on a great find...

That's an incredible find! As already stated you'll have an genuine two tone Rolex for the price of a service...amazing! It's a great thing living in a free society so that you can spend your hard earned money on whatever you choose, and then lose it so a detectorist can find it! ;)

Now, if only a slightly used Lamborghini would turn up then next time I'm detecting the local park... :D

Oh poop....I've been searching the wrong beaches!

Congrats on a really, really nice watch! :wav: :wav:
Hey, the ring isn't bad either!

HH,
Anita

I don't think anyone else mentioned this, but please DON"T send it to Rolex to have it serviced. Rolex keeps a record of reported missing watches and if yours is on the list, they will not give it back. Find an independent watch maker, that's your best bet.

Awesome find! I'm so glad the ROLEX turned out to be genuine for you. Whether you decide to repair it or not you just found yourself a very expensive watch for FREE! Probably was good karma for sending the crematorium token back to the depths.

That's entirely possible, and I bet a lot of lost watches go into the records as stolen. The question is if the watchmaker can get the correct parts because once you alter the watch it loses a ton of value. The plus side is the work would probably be much cheaper than Rolex.

I'm amazed that this isn't on the banner...two tone Rolex Sub, stainless steel and 18k gold...that's got banner written all over it!

Awesome Find !!
Hard to believe that with the high retail cost and their reputation for quality
that they would make the bezel from whatever 'pot metal' or low grade stainless that
it appears to be....
Big Congrats

yep, from looking at the head, and seeing your quote, I figured the bracelet would be two tone. That doesn't change my opinion about having it serviced. As for the bracelet, I'd have to look at what the over all value would be when the watch was complete... but like a said, after service you would basically have a brand new watch and wouldn't even have to think about a routine service for at least 5 years.

Not everyone wears their watch on a bracelet. Looks pretty good to me!

That's how I wear mine!!

That's just the bezel insert which is basically painted aluminum. Wouldn't take too much exposure to a hostile environment to do that. That same environment would destroy most watches but a Rollie will fire right back up!
