If it's real it will be my best find yet

Went out and hit the wet sand today and found there was a few swingers in the cuts so i decided to walk way down the beach away from everyone, I'm sure glad i did after about an hour i found a crematory tag. I said a little pray and sent it out to the depths. as i was turning around i got a beep and dug the silver ring. the hair went up on my neck with a couple goose bumps. i looked out to the water and asked if i could find something better with gold, haha 20 minutes later i found this Rolex watch, The hair really stood up then chills even. I gave it a shake and the second hand started to move, and the watch had a lot of encrusting on the stainless and some on the crystal. A little work took most of it off. After talking to a friend on here that has some knowledge about these i sent him a few pictures and described and answered all the questions i could. He then said everything sounds like its the real deal but you still have to take it to the Jewelers just to make sure. If it is i think ill have it repaired, I always wanted one so now maybe i have one.......I'll post tomorrow if its real thanks for looking
Kent
UPDATE;; After bringing the watch to the jewelers i'm happy to say that it came back as a real ROLEX now to have it repaiered will be $500-$700 :)

The service is expensive! To have mine cleaned and serviced was priced at over $1,000!! Since it still 'ticks', I'll just leave it and wear it once in a while!

I totally agree $500-$700 is way too low, as that's in the range of what many companies charge for a regular service. (not even talking about having issues) But I disagree to not service it. The watch needs attention, and not doing this could make things much more expensive in the future. Even if it's a $1,500 bill it's still well worth it as after service it will be like a brand new watch. This is a total no brainer decision.

Depends on your brain, I spent $5 on my watch & when the batteries run out I trash it. The batteries are more than my watch!

thats not counting a band that would be another 1700 for a used one

Yes, and that is a no brainer for you, but it's not a Rolex, and sending it in is how to get the most value.

Just wear it on a black leather croc. You can get a very nice one for under $200, under $100 if you aren't picky.

That's what I wanted to ask... was it just the head you found. That suggests the springbars rotted out detaching the bracelet, which is something I wouldn't think would happen.

it is a rolex?

just the head but watch had a lot of crusty on it so its been in there a long time

What is the bracelet that should be on it...a two tone one? I could believe $1,700 if that's the case, but if just stainless steal that sounds too high.

is this worthy of a banner?

I think that's good evidence right there it's real because not many fakes would have the water resistance to survive long enough to actually have the spring bars rot out. What year is it? (maybe you said, I'll look)

I know, I'm just making the point about people who spent as much as most do on a car to find out the time when a market $5 does the same deal. SAD.

The date code is 2003 and the 1700 is for the two tone band

Then why does anyone buy jewelry at all? And the big watch companies still sell as many as ever.

Who gives ashit, I don't, thats my point, its a waste of good money. That could feed a family of four for several months, but I guess your the big spender who couldn't care less?

yep, from looking at the head, and seeing your quote, I figured the bracelet would be two tone. That doesn't change my opinion about having it serviced. As for the bracelet, I'd have to look at what the over all value would be when the watch was complete... but like a said, after service you would basically have a brand new watch and wouldn't even have to think about a routine service for at least 5 years.

Not everyone wears their watch on a bracelet. Looks pretty good to me!

And all your hours spent detecting could be better spent volunteering at homeless shelters. :) It's all relative, and we are all different, so don't knock someone just for liking watches or anything else. Most people can afford a Rolex if they really want one, but there's only so many who would want one that bad. Plus it's not like you spend the money and it's wasted, they actually hold their value quite well. it's a lot better than all the money I spent at the bars over the years! BTW I don't own one.

I have my thoughts on it. You don't know that I'm not down the homeless shelter:thumbsup: I think you have one on each wrist. Good luck to you, I prefer to tell the time by anything that works, & not anything thats the most expensive. Crack on, each to their own.
