can you believe that? :o We've had a lot of rain lately, in the middle of this we were putting down another water well. I had detected that area before the well and never really found anything. This is the garden area, so I had hunted that area pretty heavy, but everyone always says you find more stuff when there is more moisture in the ground. After more rain and another cold front hitting us last night, I was not too determined to get out in this 37 degree weather. Well, about 9:00 the phone rings and it's my husband calling me to tell me to get over to the farm with the metal detector.

Well, I dressed for the North Pole, got over to the farm where he and the well digger were capping off the well. The well had flowed for 3 days so the area was pretty much flooded and a lot of mud. They found a old wrench and thinking there would be more. So I started hitting the area where they found the 1st wrench. I was next to the iron pipe fence and it was giving me a lot of beeps. I believe that's why in the past I never found anything cause of the fence throwing off signals. Using my survivor's knife I found 27 assorted wrenches in a 3'x3' area. Everything was below 6-8" deep. They're all old, some of them I never seen the likes of em. Husband says they have to be made out of "pigiron" not to be in a crusty, rusty condition. I like old tools, and finding this tool cache was a big thrill. More to add to my collections. ;D

Judy,

They are a great bunch of old tools,
Even if they were found under a little bit of a false pretence.

I would be a little unhappy with those guys for a while myself. but...
Think I could get over it pretty quick.
Thanks for keeping us filled in, took a lot of guts.
I admire that.

Thom

It's still a great story. And you really did "find" them. I think all women need their own tools. I do think your a$$ needs to buy you a good tool box. ;)

Judy,

Wheter you call them s'curve wrenches ,spanners or monkey wrenches.
you found em.
Planted or not...
A wonderful group of tools.

what ever you earned them.
get on with the program and don'tworry about it.

you are a decent detective, don't let it bug you .
I'll bet they don't try that again for a looooong time.

LOL

I love that huge crock Judy ( have one also) and the stove is awesome, God I miss a fireplace so bad.. Nice twisted walking stick too in the crock.. I make brooms outta twisted tree branches..Neat room ya got there.

Congrats Judie! Thats awesome! I found an old crowbar a few weeks ago off of Wax road, they are building a new sub division there and the ground was all plowed up. Is the farm out in French Settlement?

Very cool Judie....thats alot of digging in the mud...but well worth it.Instant collection! Congratulations and happy you found all of these.

I decided to get me a shirt to wear at the bayou hunt thats says in BIG letters I'm not HIM so I stay out of you girls crosshairs and firing line ;) Is Glenn gonna give up some more for the hunt there? lol I love those hornet nests too, you still find them that big there. They are rare here anymore.

oh, I should have read all the post.....didnt realize it was a joke played on you. A good one I must admit, funny! So sorry it wasn't "real" but hey you do get to keep the tools and I think thats awesome! And to top it all off it was cold. Any chance you would let me come and hunt around there? Well not for planted tools.

the way I see it RR you had two options when you found out the truth big respect you picked the hardest one best wishes S.I.R

The tools were cool, but what I wanna know is where did you get those red shrimpin' boots? They stood out above all else... ;). TMAN...

Those red boots are what we call Cajun Reboks ;D ;D, no really they're the LaCross boots...I choose red cause they don't show the dirt stains as much. I do have a pair of white ones too, but they look horrible.

River Rat,
As an auto technician I can I.D. some of those tools from your pics. The tools are worth a lot more than you might think, some of them look like Model T and early Ford tractor and horse drawn wagon/buggy and farm implement tools! There are a lot of collectors of these type items.........I'd say you STRUCK GOLD! - Starbuck
