can you believe that? :o We've had a lot of rain lately, in the middle of this we were putting down another water well. I had detected that area before the well and never really found anything. This is the garden area, so I had hunted that area pretty heavy, but everyone always says you find more stuff when there is more moisture in the ground. After more rain and another cold front hitting us last night, I was not too determined to get out in this 37 degree weather. Well, about 9:00 the phone rings and it's my husband calling me to tell me to get over to the farm with the metal detector.

Well, I dressed for the North Pole, got over to the farm where he and the well digger were capping off the well. The well had flowed for 3 days so the area was pretty much flooded and a lot of mud. They found a old wrench and thinking there would be more. So I started hitting the area where they found the 1st wrench. I was next to the iron pipe fence and it was giving me a lot of beeps. I believe that's why in the past I never found anything cause of the fence throwing off signals. Using my survivor's knife I found 27 assorted wrenches in a 3'x3' area. Everything was below 6-8" deep. They're all old, some of them I never seen the likes of em. Husband says they have to be made out of "pigiron" not to be in a crusty, rusty condition. I like old tools, and finding this tool cache was a big thrill. More to add to my collections. ;D

It was either I delete this post or apologize. My best option was to apologize to all of you about the tool cache. It wasn't anything but more of a embarrassment to me, I found something and immediately wanted to share with y'all. In my haste, I didn't even stop to think about the "mystery" of these freshly dug tools, not being crusty & rusty as they're usually are coming out of this Lousyana dirt. I have found lots of stuff under the ground closely assembled together, so I still didn't anything much about it.

After posting I went to chat, several individuals there kinda wondered and asked questions. After some serious thoughts, I put two and two together. I shared these thoughts and said I was going to question my a$$.

To make a long story short, my a$$ and Glenn (well digger) had planned this. Glenn knows my love of metal detecting, relics and Indian artifacts, so he wanted to give me some of his old tools (he's a collector). He thought it would be a neat little surprise to bury them near the area of the well digging.

When I got my cold weather gear back on, I headed out to find my a$$. I said, "Something is fishy about all those tools". "What's fishy about em?" "They're not crusty, rusty, falling apart". "Well?" "They're too close together, too many of em and how come I didn't find em before?" "I smell something fishy here."
"Well, ugh, ugh, Glenn brought you some tools and wanted to surprise you." "I told him you would catch on sooner or later." "Oh, no!!" I won't repeat what I said. :o "I've posted the pictures and everything on the board already." "You sure don't waste no time broadcasting, do ya?" :-\

So this is the truth behind the mysterious tool cache. But, I tell you what...I own some mighty good looking tools, huh? ;D Thanks, so much for all of your comments & remarks. :-* It's gonna be a long time before my a$$ or anyone else tries to make an a$$ out of me. ;D ;D

Well I don't think you need to apologize lol glad your not a red head lol no offense Mia. I think it is both wonderful and kinda crazy that was done to you. First wonderful he thought so much about you and your love of old tools and MDing to do it. Those collection of tools are not cheap. They are welcome to come over here and plant another cache like on my farm. ;) The crazy park is your hubby being in on it. I'd be worried that you'd hit me with one of those wrenches while I was sleeping lol. Hope I didn't give you an idea.
Guess they both have some making up to do for your sore back and hurts from all the digging. Maybe as a makeup they will throw some 20 dollar gold pieces out for you. Take care my friend and hope your pains disappear soon from all the diggin

Awww he was just trying to say he loves you in his own funny way, Tell him next time bury some silver and gold. Then sell them tools on ebay and watch him bit his tounge

you A$$ is always behind you ;)

He was polliticing for a higher office in the A$$ organization! That stunt puts him right up there with Charlie's 'cat caper'.--Noodle,be on guard! Nana, watch out!Although,it would take some doings to up Charlie's.

The tool to the left of the crescent wrench looks to be a shoe leather stretcher (last picture)

OHHH! That A$$ is in SOOOO much trouble!! :D Get him good RR! You know what they say about pay-backs! ;) Those are some neat tools though!!

Nana ;)

Judie I'd still be thrilled with that collection of wrenches!

What an A$$ he is though! My "boys" painted a bunch of rocks gold and planted them with some nails ::). I'm still not sure how many are left out there >:(. It's all fun and games, that is until someone loses an eye :D.

Great post I loved reading through it!

Judie I was going to say great finds and getting out in the cold, and all that still holds true planted or not!

BUT YA GOTTA GET HIM! Like TT saying April Fools Day is comming but, don't get him tomorrow ---wait--like they say expect it when you least expect it!! HEHE ::)

Nice finds , a cache is a cache . The 4th picture down of the 'crescent wrench'
is a tool I know. I have several of them in different sizes. I guess several companies made them as the ones I have have the name 'Wescott' on them.
Years back I worked with a Millwright who began his career in the late 1930's
who gave me these tools and he said he had never seen a new Wescott wrench.
This mill began operations in 1872 so I have no idea exactly how old they are.
He did say the old timers called them Fitz-its because of the adjustments to size.
Hoped this was of help.

Hey RR,
It was done with good intentions. Was much more fun digging them up then just having some one hand them to you, right? Your A$$ ment well.

Think of all the trouble he went through to plant all those wrenches just for you.

Still, a great find. A nice gift too.

ya know since he buried these and probaly has a exact count on em maybe hideing a few and claiming "I dont know where they are" might do the trick

Hey RR, I'm with you, you got the tools and they are somethin' else.

well that do explain things ;) :D ;D :D --- he was being nice and funny too , gotcha goodin.

turn rounds fair play. remember that-- thankfully you got a good sence of humor.

you should been at the turkey shoot the first time I took my girlfriend now wife to it -- I fixed up a shoot (gave my buddy the $3 bucks fee ahead of timefor everyone in the shoot & got them to miss on purpose )--- me and my good freind were on either side of her and cross shot her target --- making it look like swiss cheese -- she was so "proud" that she won "a big ole ham" her first time out and could not figger out why she didn't even hit paper at all the rest of the night -- it was 3 years after we was married that I clued her in . ;) ---
