Hunting the deep ones!

1943 copper wheat cent! Isnt that rare? WOW
We were talking about copper ones?
The steel ones are rarer but not usually found by Detectorist unless found in a coin spill because we usually discriminate the iron out. All the ones I've ever seen dug up are rusted away, with no detail visible.

I have a bugger of a time when I change settings or modes. plus I refuse to use the small coil. I get a lot of deep older pennys and so far the F75 loves dimes. Im been slowly working towards rings and deeper targets. My digger has one inch notches on it so I already know where I am at unless I dig past the hilt. The F75 will get at it, but so does all the other detectors I see in the park. I may have just banged the machine one too many times.

If this is the case, I have a bunch of steel ones that must be rare then, have over 1000 wheat cents that I dug and not 1 of them is a copper 1943. The one in the picture apears to be copper??

Every so often I like to revisit a site that I have pretty well hunted out. I set my machine to the max and try for just one more coin! Today I did exactly that after work. I brought a ruler so I could get an accurate depth measurement. I got a pretty good signal indicating 6.5 inches deep, the VDI #79 told me to expect a wheat cent, ground mineralization was -83. At 8" I recovered the 1943 wheat cent pictured below .

I think this was good depth and good data from the machine. What are your thoughts? H Digs

If that's a 43 copper Twinkletoes it's worth $60,000 in poor condition!

End of a mystery! The wheat cent I posted was in as bad condition as any I have ever found. It took an hour of cleaning just to get to where I thought I could read the date. Anyway, with all the conversation about value, I wanted to verify the date to be correct. It took more cleaning and a jewelers glass to be sure of the date.
