47. I also started in the early 70's with a Jetco Mustang Detector.

Let's see, I'm 46, no 47, sometimes I forget. Started detecting in the mid 80's with a Garrett ADS III which I still use in certain situations.

Dear group;
I am 46 and I got started in this amazing hobby when I was 14. Back then I could hit a park on Friday afternoon and find enough change for the movies on Saturday AND Sunday. Those were the days. I could earn more pocket money swinging a detector than I could slinging newspaper or pushing a lawn mower. Plus, all the pawn brokers and me were on a first name basis too. My first detector was my dads' old BFO and I am no longer recall the make or model. Some out of business off brand, with the name TEX in it somewhere I seem to recollect. My current arsenal consists of a Minelab GP3000, a Minelab SD2100 and a White's GMT, adozen coils and other assorted paraphenalia.

Half a century plus 1 Somedays feel a century, but when we are with the grandkids or going out detecting only a quater of that much :laughing7:

Let's see, I started detecting in 1980 when I was 16 so I will be 44 in August. Hopefully I'll still be detecting until I'm 88. :thumbsup:
