Just turned 53. Retired Jan. 3, 2006. Been detecting one month with my ACE 250 and I LOVE this hobby. Cheaper than fishing, more fun, and I don't have to worry about falling out of the boat (can barely swim). In the market for a Garrett GTI 2500 or a Whites DFX. Sure wish someone would chime in and help me decide. Did I mention I love this hobby? ;D ;D ;D

I'm 31 and have been metal detecting professionally for about five years. I first used a metal detector about six years ago when I was a teaching assistant for a near surface geophysics. For metal detection I now use either Magnetometers (Geometrics G-858), time domain electomagnetic induction metal detectors (Geonics EM61-MK2 or EM63) or frequency domain electomagnetic induction metal detectors (Geophex GEM-3). I am mainly looking for landmines or unexploded ordnance.

67 nexr week. Started in 1965 with a D-Tex BFO. Now I use a EX2, DFX & Excaliburs

I'm 46 1/2 right now and I've been at it since I was 16. I found enough with my dads Garrett Deep Seeker back then to buy my own pretty soon. I remember the good ole days back in the 70's when there wasn't many metal detectors around and goodies were easier to find. I've still got my Garrett Deep Seeker and it still works as good as it did new. It was about $650.00 back then. I got a Garrett Ace 250 for Christmas and I have found 3 rings already. 1 gold, 1 silver and a gold plated wedding band. All of them showed up in the nickel range. I love the Ace 250.

I'm not telling.....ha!

I'm a 21 year old in a 63 year old body. Built a heathkit in the late 60's, but the kids broke it in a couple of years. Two kids thru Purdue, 30 years on the job, retirement, more disposable income --and back in the game! Bought an Ace 250 with both big coils and am having a ball.
