Well that was way back when…Nowadays I believe the same trip would cost well over $200 in gas cost alone…I believe the purchasing power of the dollar is nowhere near what it used to be…As even you have stated…When gas was a quarter per gallon…The only ones with any real purchasing power in life are the 1%…They keep accumulating the real wealth off of the poor who are paying the price for their greed…But that is just my personal opinion…Just goes to show you how much the purchasing power the "Dollar" has.
The Chinese market for scrap has been around for over 30 years.HF will have a few of the items listed above however at a lower quality in general. The Chinese are using some of the USA scrap as a resource and shipping it back over seas.
One can build from both sources projects at more affordable costs.
I am still waiting on the repeal of the Kimberly Process Scheme…I doubt it will ever happen though…Well there is so much good quality oil that is not being extracted right here in the good old U.S.A that could really effect almost everyone here not just the 1% as you point out. Some will say that right here could be the greatest producer of the world as far as oil goes.
There is a lot of minerals that are also kept out of "Mineral entry" as well that would have a major impact on the economy of the good old U.S.A.
Heck there is likely some areas where people would be very glad to get 1-2ozs. per ton values out of that are out there waiting for the next great recessions / depressions to come along like in the past.
Once upon a time I worked for American Home Foods, a division of American Home Products…One day when I was in the spirit, some might call it drunk, I called into the personnel department and had a long conversation with them…We discussed quite a few things that involved teamwork and the betterment of corporate America and the United States, and the fulfillment of the Holy Bible and Gods word…To make a long story short…Many of my suggestions were implemented by corporate America…Of course they reneged on the terms of our agreement, and even caused me to injure my person by trying to squeeze blood from the proverbial turnip…And from that moment on all bets were off…I believe it was because greed got the best of them…Oh well…I am not sure of how much time remains in my hourglass…But I can really care less about camels passing through the eye of the needle anymore…Well there is so much good quality oil that is not being extracted right here in the good old U.S.A that could really effect almost everyone here not just the 1% as you point out. Some will say that right here could be the greatest producer of the world as far as oil goes.

I forgot to state that the State pre-approval of photo the company had to dress the workers up. (In the real world they don't have clean uniforms, masks, and gloves.)The Japanese used a lot of U.S.A. scrap before WWII and used it against the U.S.A during the war.

Not to get too deep in the political, but we have a battery plant from VW.Some of this is now over here in the U.S.A.:

Communist Chinese-backed electric vehicle battery manufacturer from building in The Great Lakes State, where $175 million in state taxpayer dollars is being lavished on the project.
I wonder IF this applies to commercial airliners as wellYep it is also technical information as well to be copied.
Not everyone is aware of this however some people are waking up to these facts.
I quit posting because I was fearful of being nuked with more rubbish. You could tell that people where interested after a long quite of no postings.
Thread has been cleaned. Some people are distractions and can not seem to stay on topic.Due to the direction this thread went, why should I bother.

Egnatius, because he has snow-white teeth, smiles all the time. If you’re a defendant in court, when the counsel draws tears, he smiles: if you’re in grief at the pyre of pious sons, the lone lorn mother weeping, he smiles. Whatever it is, wherever it is, whatever he’s doing, he smiles: he’s got a disease, neither polite, I would say, nor charming. So a reminder to you, from me, good Egnatius. If you were a Sabine or Tiburtine or a fat Umbrian, or plump Etruscan, or dark toothy Lanuvian, or from north of the Po, and I’ll mention my own Veronese too, or whoever else clean their teeth religiously, I’d still not want you to smile all the time: there’s nothing more foolish than foolishly smiling. Now you’re Spanish: in the country of Spain what each man pisses, he’s used to brushing his teeth and red gums with, every morning, so the fact that your teeth are so polished just shows you’re the more full of piss.
