Dug it out of my front yard. My guess is, ithas something to do with a tractor, plumbing, or something else mundane... Lol. I never dig up anything interesting

So what's it be?:)

The biggest hold up to the hub idea I have is the slots where the spokes would go is not centered but rather very close to one side. I would think this would cantilever the weight of whatever the wheel was on and be hard on bearings and or bushings. But it still is a strong possibility of it being a hub.

I like your picture however it again has the spokes coming out of the center of hub, not near the edge. By the way I have a old wagon hub just like the one you pictured with a few more spokes but no rim part and it's not rotten. any ideas on what to do with it? Worth anything?

Yes the picture of the car looks a little closer. Is that Henry Fords first car?

For whatever my view is worth... I'm in full agreement with Wvwildman. It is definitely an antique wheel-hub. I've seen 'em in real-life, on the vehicles.

I value everyone's input:). And I think I seen it written somewhere, if you say it ... It's more than Likely the word .

This is looking quite possible. Thanks! Gonna look into it. Only thing is the vent holes seem to small for spokes. They are only about half and inch across.

It is a hub .. wooded spokes would go in the square holes

i think i'd agree on the ID as a wheel hub for a wagon or cart.....<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=763440"/>(pic from 1897 sears catalog)

Oh you mean lime this one? Lol

Ironically I'm sitting here looking at my 1906 sears catalog at the moment , at tbe same thing . Weird.
I guess I'll go with the general opinion .... I just can't quite picture it.... Cause the spoke holes are so close to the edge and it's just a a bit differently shaped ... But there are any number of wheels and variations I suppose.

Just to show again the shape and size.

These are the sort of parts I'm finding. When trying to search antique iron wheel hub

Holly, being so close to the edge is what I just cant get past. If you could get it cleaned up some and get a look at the inside and see if there are threads, races, or what you might get some solid clues. Have you looked into electroysis yet?

It was from those bad years though when Ford had all the engine problems.. But it got burnt up in a barn fire:( maybe I'll post a pic of it and tbe 200 year old barn that was lost .

i have to agree with these last posts , it looks very much like a wooden spoke hub of a early model car, but the ones i am finding do not have as many spokes as yours does , let alone the small size i would not think it would be automotive. so possibly a spoked hub for a different device ?
another question, your picture #2 looks like there is a seam on the long side , like it may be multiple pieces ? if so that may explain why the spokes are so close to 1 side , the other side may have come off and they were actually centered .

just my 2 cents , but i think that you are on the right track with the wood spoke hub idea.

I love my old diesel. It is a 1994 2500 4x4 with over 400,000 miles on it. It still gets 21 to 23 mpg! No lie. I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. It has been downgraded to a third vehicle (winter beater) and I still plow snow with it. I have a 2010 wrangler I keep in the garage all winter to keep the snow and salt off it. What tear was your Ford? I blew up a 2008 f350 with a 6.4 diesel last fall. Only 40,000 miles on it...JUNK! LOL!!
