Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

Fossil hunting find.

Don't want to take up all your time but this rock was found in a cretaceous area in central Montana. The layers are exquisite and rounded like it came from a sphere. I don't think it's egg or anything like that but I thought it interesting. Any ideas? Thanks Masons rock 010.jpgMasons rock 011.jpgMasons rock 012.jpgMasons rock 013.jpg

do a platinum test on them... early miners used to disguard platinum nuggets as junk...

Ended up being sterling silver. So I talked to the owners of the ranch and they said a old timer used to make conchos up there and sent this pic back.Said that's all they have of some of his work.Died in the 1920s.So thanks to everyone that replied.

That concho is stamped and bossed plate. No melted metal was involved in it's manufacture. Common mistake. You will need to look further than a pawn shop and a concho to find out what your obviously melted blobs are.

Heavy Pans

Ok well thanks,it's not worth any money to me,and money is what keeps me able to go dig.Concho no idea, thats ehat owner of ranch sent picture of.So again thanks and take care.

So melted at 1600 plus but below 17,Concho was a worn Concho that was reworked. All advice is good advice, though it might not be correct advice. Thanks again to participants, cheers

Silver rock

The 2nd photo is for the rock on the right (6"X3"). Its very heavy does not respond to a magnet but hits to the far end of the scale with a metal detector. Thank You!July 2015 kids rocks 033.jpgJuly 2015 kids rocks 032.jpg
