Got A Rock you Want Identified? Post it here! gimme a good picture or 3 or 4!

9 lb chunk of a vein I found in the hills of awahtukee Arizona really heavy need help identifying if there is gold and if it is a part of a gold vein. All pics are of same rock.

Gold Pyrite Copper all in that vein... alot of pyrite but there will be gold in it... Im liking this one alot now did you happen to get a ton or so? 8))

Okay so I think this may be Chrysocolla maybe with copper flakes? What do you think? Found it in a old mine dump in Cental Colorado not too far from Wilkerson Pass. View attachment 830699View attachment 830700View attachment 830701View attachment 830702View attachment 830703View attachment 830704

Copper calcite and cupperite mixed with Florine and Ovaline Gorgeous! Your local jeweler supply will pay Handsomely for this rock.. it will also look wayyy cool cut into book ends.. or even cut to see if Silver and gold run thru it! The Black is Hematite,, I would bet under the "Bleached" skin of this rock youll find Silver,, I use a Tile saw to cut them open but you could just as easily keep them the way they are! GORGEOUS!

On a completely separate note I have been off for 2 weeks trying to figure out whether to have the Plate in my neck removed or not.. so bear with me folks! I'll be back! I'm just going to be slow for a bit! lol!

Hahaha I know the spot and its got a ton there hah. I have been finding some really good stuff. Here are a few more. Also If you could fill me in on what I can bring to an assayer cause I have a lot of stuff. Also I would def send u some to check out yourself. It's driving me crazy nor knowing if I'm sitting on stuff that' could be worth money ha. These ones are pretty big in size and very dense. All have been soaking in in HCL for a few days. Pics 16 , 17 and 18 are one rock and a big one and really heavy and I have been looking at some mossy gold specimens and it kinda seems like that. Let me know your thought brotha.

primarily Flint in Ash.. at times you'll also find chunks of lava with enough Iron in them to set off a detector.. (I have a mesa close by with an abandoned pueblo we tried to "Dial Out" the Iron to no avail.8() some even look as if they were meteoric.. but after having a sliver cut off they have all come back as lava bombs with 55% Iron ore in them. I would probably put them under a glass table as conversation pieces.. there fun to look at and the power of the earth is ever appearant! Nice!
Thanks !!! I don't think flint is a native stone here in NH, most of what I can ID is metamorphic.
I hope to someday start working with these stones as our ancestors did.
Since the flint is in a localized area, I will look for worked pieces next time I'm in the area,
Best Wishes!!
BTW, here's the bead that I found at this site, enough metal to set off my detector,
and a sewing needle doesn't flake out pieces but scratches the yellow metal.
I'd guess these clues would mean that it is gold. :icon_scratch:

Yup nice FIND BTW! love the bead ive seen some like this at a museum in Florida (key west) spanish gallions ... probablu gold and the buildup on it should come off nicely with a little vinegar.(vinegar wont hurt the gold..)

sweet ya pyrite is decomposing (makes the rock seem all rusty) but i see silver lead and iron so there will be gold in it.. i have some ore like this now ive found that pounding it down and then setting it in a water vat to decompose the pyrite has worked very well. then finish the crush and pan it out.

this batch im not loking as much ... too much conglomerate.. (ie its been reheated and reformed) this leads to the gold forming elsewhere.the black rock is probably hematite. and bust up the bottom one im seeing talc all over the outside (good sign)

I really need he identifying this. Do u know what crystal or mineral it is.

Found this half buried any ideas. Leaves a gold metallic streak on tile and not magnetic. Weighs about a pound very dense and when hammered it makes indent ions and will not break at all.

look to be Quatrz crystals with Oil and dust on em... good looking crystals! I would clean em up (dish washer) should be safe... the could possibly be feldspar.. but its unlikely (ive never seen that large a chunk of em) Gorgeous and Well worth your time!!

humm.... Doesn't look like gold.. has your Sulfur yellow look to it, when you drug it across the tile what color was the streak? ,, and after hit the streak with a little hcl and lets see if it disappears. when you "Dent it" does it powder around the dent?

another possibility is MARFIM GOLD GRANITE. its a Quartzite with a very unique blend of sulfides in it that have lead to its "Golden color" and yet only yields 1.26 oz per ton... its used in countertops tho because of its clarity, and a 52" x 50" piece 3/4 wide will cost you $15K very rare. 64 cents an oz 8(...

I need to get a "Sample from you! lol any hoo Keep up the search.. there is gold in there !

Gold or not...

Thanks Dusted! Still on the hunt, hopefully have some better samples soon. Good luck with your neck. HH

Thank You! Best wishes and HH

Looks like you have a large nugget, only a few minerals you can dent and they are almost all metals so the streak plate would indicate you have about $10,000.

I have also soaked it in HCL acid with no effect on it. Could it just be very weathered ?

sorry 8( not gold Mica Schist while mica is pretty and shimmery... it throws alot of people off.. there might be micro gold (on the atomic level) in the quartz there.. (nice sample good start to finding gold.) but it would be so miniscule you would need 5 tons of it to get 1 oz of gold. that rock is right however for the area you want to be looking for gold.. just look for a much deeper yellow.. youll know it when you find it.! GL and may you be BLESSED With Nuggets!
