St Joseph Island, Ontario

Quartz vein samples and float laying all over the ground, remote location but within 1000 yards of an old abandon gold and silver mine with extensive workings. Quartz has veinlets and large patches of what appears to be silver sulfides? Some are loaded with dull, ash grey mineral and the others with the bluish black mineral that also appears like high grade silver potential. Going to have an assay run on some samples however do these look like Argentite or a form of pyrargyrite?

Acanthite seems plausible. Why not do a hardness and streak test?
It's very soft - a copper penny should scratch it. So should a knife.
That'd limit possible minerals.

Streak should be lead gray or black.

EU_Citizen, thank you so much for your help. there is one last rock I have kept for over a year but was unable to identify it's name. i think it is a type of agate but not sure. 20170913_165330.jpg

Bluish Black mineral coating on quartz- Silver sulfide?

I would guess this to be a silver sulfide mineral- Thick bluish black mineral covering quartz from a vein outcrop at a known past producer of gold and silver mine. Anyone know what this black/bluish black mineral in a gold/silver vein would be?
