All Treasure Hunting
This is the 5th new Roman Site we have discovered this year, but all the others were either cleared out or low status. We have had permission for this land for many years but have never done the leg work until today. At least 1 other Detectorist does this land & they have reported finding very little.:laughing7:
Cru'dad had scouted this area yesterday & apart from the Roman Pottery, he only got a Crotal Bell,Bullet, Lead Seals & not much else. However, he left our Archy intel until today & armed with the GPS we dropped right down into a great area. We have tried about 20 of these Archy targets this year & this is the last one on the list & by far the best!:icon_thumright:

In only 5 hours:

30 Roman Bronze Coins
5 Roman Silver-4 by me, thats our best 1 day total & my personal best as well! 2 x Gordian III, 2 x Elagabalus, 1 Faustina Junior
1929 Sixpence
Crotal Bell (yesterday)
13th C Annular Brooch & pin
Broken Roman Folding Knife
Roman Enamelled Stud
Roman Fantail Fibula piece
Star Find by me very early in the hunt (10 minutes) - Stylized Bronze Votive Lion Figurine:headbang:

Just the day we needed when options were drying up!

Wow Cru!
I feel like everytime I respond to one of your posts, that's how I have to begin it. Your finds are a treasure trove of history. Are most of your finds in fields? I know (by TV) that a lot of land there is cultivated. If so, have you tried utilizing satelite data or a drone? I know the drones are being used a lot these days to spot the possible signs of construction just below the surface that height reveals. Might be a useful tool for you. Not that you seem to miss much! I could bring my detector across the pond if you need help with those really large areas. hehe.
Anyway, Congrats again on some really significant finds. Always a joy and education to see your posts. HH.

What a silver haul!! Don't you love it when others say you won't find anything on a site? That puts me on a mission to prove them wrong, and you certainly did that with your site.

We heard it second hand from the owners brother. The detectorist is either a wanderer or a ..............? We may find out when we do our first show & tell.

85% of our 30,000 acres are ploughed & we use aerial shots along with Archie intel to pin down our targets. As well as blind hunts & landscape Archaeology to find harder to target sites that don't come up in our research.

CRU NICE SILVER COINS U HAVE THERE...

Congrats Cru! As usual, top notch. Just jaw dropping... five of them too. WOW.
