Wow, that is a bunch of stuff to try to clean. Most of the knives I find are so rusted I just toss them.

That’s quite the hoard of knives Tommy. If it was me I would just toss them in some CLR. Good luck

I Think that's what Im going to do I have sooooo much bling axe heads dog tags knives pocket watches lighters I don't lug heavy stuff and usually toss most junk Ill be honest any knives even if valuable usually aren't when ya find them. Im mostly a coin and gold hunter My Town was founded in 1826ish so not a lot of really good relics

That's only a little I have at least 50 so CLR for how long

Try electrolysis on iron relics. All you need is an old phone charger and a couple of alligator clips. One clip on your item , the other on a spoon put them in a container of water without letting them touch. If the bubbles are coming from your spoon switch the clips. Some people salt the water for greater conductivity. Oh, don't use the 5/8s silverware!

Great bunch of finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice collection of time pieces and knives! :icon_thumleft:

Very Nice Loot Tommy! You Do have a lot of knives that you've found!

Is that clip watch with the leather strap a Winchester or Remington? I've got one like that too. Cool watch and they are collectible with some gun collectors depending on the brand and hunters too.

I've also found a good number of knives over the years, many of them good, the ones that are "toasted", I've soaked in some apple cider vinegar, to rid most of the rust, a little wire brushing, you've got to figure there isn't much to lose. I do this because some of the grips or whatever the proper term is, are pretty nice, and of course each has it's own story, all put together, they actually look pretty good.

I save them but I love and collect knives. When doing electrolysis be sure and put some baking soda in the water. Also I've found that hot water works best. A phone charger works but any pack that delivers up to 2amps works fine.

box em up as is and sell on Ebay as a lot. You would be surprised who would love the adventure of discovery or recovery....

Super finds! If you live near people that have more money than brains, mount a few in a couple of shadow boxes, and sell the set for twice what you pay for the boxes. Trust me on this one - Recycled Art!

do you accept bottle caps as payment for the "art" :dontknow:???:tongue3::laughing9:

Nice treasures Tommy.

Rainy day like today might not be a bad time to try the electrolysis. I have a several coffee cans of misc metal that I have dug that I see in garage and think why do I still have this stuff. One day I plan to look through it and see if I overlooked any treasure, but will probably give them to a friend who scraps metal. Not sure I need old any sawed padlock parts, pie tins and other scrap.

Then time to go out and find more.

HH,

Pete

My guess would be to put the ones that aren’t too bad for 4 hrs and the others for 12. Try to clean a few and see what kind of results you get and just work from there. Good luck
