Just like the title says, I was out making my usual Saturday rounds and in between sales, I happened to stumble across many more that were not marked online.

One sale in particular was an estate sale and I was the 2nd parson to attend. The first guy had a piece of silver jewelry or two so I went to look for more and found the mother lode. He completely missed the hidden compartment in the bedside jewelry box that was stuffed with silver and gold, including (2) 10k football charms from the late 30s. There were some silver necklaces rings, cuffs and a 14k bracelet. All of the flatware came out of the kitchen and living room.

All said and done, I picked up 500g+ of Sterling (17 ounces), 5g of 14k and another 9g of 10k.

The book is ā€œThe Secret Life of Salvatore Daliā€ and the other 2 hardcovers are worth a bit but Iā€™ll read them first. My improvised carry container is a beautiful Wagner Ware cast iron pan which Iā€™ll clean/season this weekend and give it away for a Christmas gift. Itā€™s so caked with old grime you can hardly read the name so itā€™ll need a long soak in my lye bucket but they come out beautiful when restored properly.

Yeah man don't leave us hanging ... šŸš¼šŸ˜

Several years ago I hit a garage sale with tons of costume jewelry but after digging through it I got a 30g 14k gold chain, a couple of gold rings and maybe 40 grams of Silver jewelry, she told me $5 and I left... later my family member's were pissed at me for not offering them more... knowing the true value of what I had found...
:dontknow: What would you have done ?

Many times if the price is ridiculously low, I give more than asked

And I will clarify, I did not know the CHAIN was real until I got home and acid tested it.. Rings were pretty obvious though and the silver was too... So I'm pretty sure I knew I had a couple of hundred dollars worth of stuff without the chain...
Chain turned out to be the best though

Jelly!
Something of Value by Robert Ruark is a great read. A historical fiction, it's based on true accounts of the Mao Mao Communist revolution, IMO it offers both a good story and insightful TTPs during Gen4, civil, and irregular warfare. IYKYK

That's a fair question.

Does someone give more to the Ma & Pa retailers that have a sale?

Answer: Probably not.

In buying something from a friend or relative?

Answer: Probably

From a complete stranger at a one time sale that the question is asked:

How much?
$5.00

Now if they had asked $25.00 and a person bartered them down to $5.00.

Well it's their pillow they rest the head on, and I'll leave it at that.

I give more for folks I know if under valued.
Stranger, I pay what they ask if a good deal.
I ask for a small discount if a little higher to my thoughts on the value.

If they ask $50 and I'm at the $10 thought-I simply pass.

To be critical of the purchase price šŸ¤”
