A friend of mine demolished an old house to make room for some apartment buildings. He gave me permission to hunt there following deconstruction of the home. The yard had been hunted before and I didn't think I'd find very much. I started out finding a few new coins and moved around to where the old porch once stood. About five sweeps into the search I got a good quarter signal, at about 4 inches deep. I dug down to what I thought might be a silver quarter and out pops the 1826 Large cent. It is the best Large cent I have ever found. I only had about an hour to hunt and I plan to go back there again soon.
Thanks for looking.

Nice largie. I love finding the large copper coins. :icon_sunny:

Sweet looking large cent!!!

Congrats on the large cent. I recently found a 1856 large cent on a scouting hunt at a house tear down site then on the second hunt I found a 1822 large cent and a 1908 Barber dime. Make sure you get back soon before they start construction on the apartments and take it slow and steady. I don't know what the trash is like but usually on tear downs it is very trashy so I would use a small coil if you have one.

I hope you find many more keepers at the site.

Happy hunting
