Forrest Fenn s treasure

Well I don't know what to say. I stumbled across this story last night about 11pm and spent entire night researching this. There are a lot of good points on here. I have to say though this fella MarkD seems to have the most information, I've read every post in this strand. Honestly you can't help but wonder if Mr. Fenn is telling the truth although many people insist he is. One thing that really has me wondering is this thing of people being told or saying they were within 500 ft. How in the world would they know?or would Mr. Fenn know, unless he was with em.
And I agree with you turtle123456 people should definitely start a strand. only thing is I doubt anyone wants to share there info with people they don't know. Most things on here are opinions, there seems to be very few posts that actually give information. I guess thats all apart of the Hint though.

Why thank you. :) I'm convinced Forrest is genuine. I'd be definitely willing to share information. You can private message me.

Havent seen any comments concerning them. Lots of ideas on them running round in my head.

I, personally, like the Ranger Gary angle. Can't make it work yet 100%.

So is pissing in cheerios but most people find that counterproductive.

Dont have to get pissy about it. Just giving the man a heads up before he sinks a lot of his resources into it. Some have more than others.

Like I said, its certainly something to do but it smelled fishy before I even began to research the story.

With that said, good luck to all of you on this trek.

Welcome!

If you spent as much time researching Fenn as you did this thread you will see things in a different light. Though most posters here hang on to the chance that they will win the Fenn lotto someday, it just isnt going to happen.

Fenn's problems are far deeper than he wants to admit. But, hey, its something to do.

Sorry V- I can appreciate your opinion. But one thing I've notice throughout the entire thread. Is that you repetitively bag on Forrest Fenn no matter the comment or situation. I'm not saying your wrong, maybe a little negative. But if you don't mind me asking why is that? What has brought you to the point where you keep coming back here to make negative comments about the guy? I don't know much about the guy only what people are saying. But maybe you can enlighten me.
Thank

Did you ever think people just weren't sharing their opinions on here for the whole world to see. :director: There are many of us LOCALS in fact that have been searching for years. The fact of the matter that you stumbled across this by accident past your curfew is hilarious in itself. Somehow you feel you know all, as well as (markd) makes me laugh. No offense (Markd) good guy)A few buddies and I have lost time money and tons of sleep researching this. Back to back searches all year (no complaints)))) and i would not put up any of my valuable insight on here. Its a chase, and were all racing to the finish! So understand you coming on here spitting rants that past hunters have are not amusing....(is Mr fenn telling the truth???) :BangHead: annoying sorry.

I think were all about as close as we were when we started. Nowhere. or 500 ft....whatever suits you :sadsmiley:

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site but am glad I found it. I haven't read all the posts but enough to "wonder" at how so many of you know ff. Do most of you live in NM? Since you have inside info into his character - what if you received this email from him? Here it is - "you will probably buy the drinks at the bar" - meaning I thought he likes my solution. Trickery? So many people seem to think he is a trickster. How has he shown this in the past? I am very curious.

@themarkd
Did you find the picture of Garys home when he was working?

Glad to see others are traveling the research route.

He sez its not locked and the key is also in the box, he said he didn't want some one to torch the chest to open it.

This post won't mean much. Just getting back on topic.

Every small town has a coffee shop or restaurant where the retired guys, and some who are on their way to work gather to have coffee and lie. We call our group the old Farts Club. I'm one of the regulars. The Fenn Treasure has been a favorite topic for some time. Several of us are MD'er and gold prospectors. One of the fellows, a retired County Painter, 78 years old and acts like he's 19, actually flew out of here to Denver around 3 weeks ago. He was so confident of the Treasure location he left the east coast to check it out. And he is still gone. Checking in with his wife, he keeps in regular touch with her, has him hip deep in snow and closing in fast on the treasure. She gives no clues to his where about's, only he's rented a 4X4 and is sleeping in it. She is very tight lipped only to say he's OK.

While he was here. he was all over the western states with clues. Have no idea where he went from Denver. Think a Resort on a mountain top was the clue he talked about most. I've seen the Resort mentioned on here a couple of times. If and when he returns I'll post his results. But, 3 weeks is a long time.

Gentlemen keep it civil please................

Guess I feel he is preying off of the hopes and dreams of some that can not really afford to be on a wild goose chase with nothing at the finish line.

As his cash register rings and he is in the limelight to stoke his ego. Just MHO.

Hope you guys find your treasure, whatever it may be.

Even if he didn't hide it and its a big fraud who cares? Why do you care if I waste my time and money looking for it? If it gets me excited and outdoors, and one day my kids, then I've won in the end no matter what.
K... Off my soap box

Getting back on topic, I literally just read all 36 pages of this thread over the past week. And a couple things kind of bug me.
People quote him that he has said this or that. for example some people quote him as saying:
"In the mountains North of Santa Fe" - Which I've read in an interview transcript and what not, but then one person says
"Well he corrected himself and said that it is 'Northerly' of Santa Fe which means NE or NW" but they dont' have a link or anything about where he corrected himself? Do these people know for sure? or is it something they heard from someone else who knows FF's nephew who baptized his cousin's dog?
All humor aside, one thing I learned is that if I knew FF and he gave me some sort of insight, I wouldn't be vindictive and post a lie online to throw people off, but I sure as heck wouldn't be posting what he told me if I was actively looking for the treasure?
I don't know, I'm not a very trusting person. Not discrediting people that know him at all, and if they are genuine then I think we all appreciate their insight and would love for them to share, I'm just saying. Do the research and take it from the horse's mouth.
Like many of you I will be researching and reading when I have time and maybe in a few years if I'm confident (like so many others) take a little trip :icon_thumright:

Notherly appeared in an answer to a question about if it was due north. Norterly generally refers to the top quarter of the compass. Between North East and North West. As opposed to being directly North as in 360 degrees.

I dont remember the exact interview, nor do I have the time to go back to find it. But he was simp"y saying in a general northern area of Santa Fe. Example the Rocky mountains are northerly of Santa Fe is a true statement.

The comment I made was in responce to a guy who was convinced it was on the north rim of the Grand Canyon, which almost anyone would agree is generaly westerly of Santa Fe and not in the Rockies.

Oh and his dog Cody did tell my dog some cool stories!

I didn't mean anything in a derogatory or critical way, I'm just skeptical sometimes haha
Thanks for clarification though.

Thats fine., no offense ta;en. There is alot of misinformation out there. It is important to che,k the source.
The poem and the book, and Forrest quotes are all that I trust.
