Forest Fenn and his treasure start on Canyon road near art gallery.

Welcome to Fenn's House of Mirrors Mdc777 "Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before "Relax, " said the night man, "We are programmed to receive. You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave! " You should seriously consider heeding AppleCrack's advise. With a handle like AppleCrack, I suspect that man has been in deep waters more than once in his life. Play something other than your One-Eyed Jack card if you can. Choices

Riddle me this Mdc777. What causes you to conclude that Fenn is referring to the treasure as being bold rather than to Fenn himself being bold? There are two possibilities don't you know?
Like Fenn not afraid of danger or difficult situations. Or very confident in a way that may seem rude or foolish to those who are MEEK? Hay now, Do you ever look for a better way, or just ride with the tide and go with the flow Mdc777 ??? My judgment is that, after 3 years, you are still on a slow train to nowhere because you are WRONG Mdc777. But thanks for showing us your other side, one-eyed jack Mdc777.

I think his treasure has probably already been found.

Oh and to answer your question... Fenn being bold does not help us solve his poem or get closer to the chest but treasures being bold most certainly does. 166 words... "treasures" is bold, why?... you figure that out and your on your way to finding the secret in the poem...
I don't think treasures are bold. I think he went boldly with his treasures.

Mdc777

And you are still on that slow train to nowhere after 3 YEARS because the treasure is bold? Spit it out if you can man. This has got to be good.

I think sometimes people tend to dig way to deep when things like this come around. I believe Fenn placed his treasure at the bottom of some beautiful lookout point, maybe sometime in the winter near sunset and if you are on this overlook during that time you can see the chest more clearly in the closing rays of the sun. You most likely need binoculars because it's probably very far down and I'm sure the chest is an earthy color. Find the remotest part of the Rockies that's an overlook, that has the best view with a rivery running down below. Go during the colder months and follow the path of the setting suns rays. I'm sure we all have seen that the setting sun casts a path that looks like flames on the ground and over water. While your looking at that sunset, like everyone else, scan directly below. It may be hundreds of feet down there but someone will spot it, at least we hope. Fenns best laugh is at those who dig too deep. No offense to Mr. Fenn but I dont believe he's in the same league as Frost or Poe. I dont think he is as worldly as he thinks he is. He has been investigated by the authority for years and before that no one ever heard of him. Some people are leagends in their own minds and that's no slight to Mr. Fenn. He just now became famous and worldly. He was almost a crook a few years ago. Bravo for him for saving himself but let's not go crazy, again he's no Poe or Frost. And I have no ill will towards the man, I in fact am thankful for his poem. It has given me many laughs and it has kept me company many a long cold nights at work. Thanks Mr.Fenn.

How does Fenn being bold help anything? Stanza 1 gives you the info to figure out the rest of the poem if you can grasp it. It's not easy and that's why the chest hasn't been found. Look at the word treasures in the poem. How is it different than all the other words?
it's not necessarily a clue.

THIS IS A JOKE IN MULTIPLE WAYS

Irrational Exuberance. In my humble judgement, those lost in the dark wood, still engaged in physical searches for Fenn's treasure in the Rocky Mountains, north of Santa Fe, NM may have contracted a serious case of irrational exuberance and resist taking corrective action by seeking the cure for their condition. Freedom of choice, one might say, if one were to say. Nothing an't worth nothing unless one can cause his quarry to believe otherwise. Have you taken your anti- irrational exuberance pill today?

<sigh>

the word treasures is bold because it is the only word in the entire poem that has 9 letters. All other words have 7 letters or less.

FF wrote a poem that contains 9 clues and if followed precisely lead to the chest.

9 letters = 9 clues

This is the way I see that mdc777,

As I have gone alone in there alone

(Fenn was alone at the times over the years when he worked on his poem map. The input was his and his alone. No ideas or suggestions from anyone else. And we all go into our minds when we create.)

And with my treasures bold,

(With the mental attributes of boldness he possesses, his true treasures)

I can keep my secret where,
And hint of riches new and old
.

(Fenn views himself as an independent thinker and capable of keeping his secret and giving hints
relating to where his treasure lies without revealing the location. The hints could relate to things related to more recent times or more distant in the past times.)

As I have gone alone in there.....by a lone mtn? by a single peak?

thats how I see it, as a cowboy "in the wood" would say it, being in the saddle that is.

View attachment 1080999

this is the saddle you are in when you "find the blaze"

the chest is sitting on this rock and the shadow shows some perfect square marks outlined on the ground.

View attachment 1081006

its perched up on the left edge of the taller shadow on the right, looks tilted to the left at a 45 degree angle

and the box shape can be seen with some green rust dripping down on the rock beneath it. so crazy to find this

He does say that you have to follow the clues in order, but lately, I've been thinking that the starting point could be any of the lines or clues in the poem, not necessarily the first one. Just a thought.

Well then begin it where warm waters halt
